**Position Title: Fisheries**_**Office Assistant - 2025**_ _(L11 $44,008 - $51,197)_
***:To assist the Aquatic Resources Manager in the coordination, administration and monitoring of ‘Nmis aquatic activities, as well as assisting with resources planning activities to ensure sustainable marine and freshwater resource use and habitats within and adjacent to ‘Nmis territory.
**REPORTS TO**:Aquatic Resources Manager, Natural Resources Department
**SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES**:
- Under the direction of the Aquatic Resources Manager, assists in the operational administration of the ‘Nmis Aquatics Department including:
- Maintains required financial, statistical and field records
- Prepares for meetings, workshops, and presentations, as well as takes and maintains meeting minutes
- Provides logístical support for the ‘Nmis aquatic staff
- Administers and monitors ‘Nmis Food, Social and Ceremonial (FSC) permits
- Participate in ‘Namgis Food Security related activities
- Liaisons with Fisheries and Oceans and Province of BC technical staff and other agency staff as appropriate
- Assists in the administration of activities related to the restoration of ‘Nmis aquatic habitats including proposal writing, grant reporting, and financial tracking
- Assists in the implementation of aquatic related research activities
- Assists in ‘Nmis public education and community outreach activities related to aquatic resources and other land and resource activities
- Scheduling of field activities and tracking staff hours
- Preparing and maintaining scientific field equipment, digital and/or paper data sheets, and PPE for field work
- Participation in field work related to research and other aquatic projects
- Work evening and weekends assigned
- Other duties and projects assigned
**SKILLS & EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS**:
- Strong computer skills and familiar with Microsoft Office products
- Strong written and verbal presentation skills
- Ability to engage with ‘Nmis members, the general public, and government officials in a courteous manner
- Previous experience in aquatic management or a related field
- Knowledge of Kwakwaka’wakw culture
- Knowledge of community-based fisheries management
- Knowledge of North Pacific marine species and ecosystems
**EDUCATION/QUALIFICATIONS**:
- Grade 12 Diploma or equivalent
- Certificate or diploma in administration, data management or related field
**UNUSUAL JOB FEATURES**:
- Predominantly an office position but can include some field activity duties
- Field activities can be physically demanding job that includes strenuous labour
- Field tasks include travel by ferry, truck and boat to work site
