**POSITION TITLE**_**: Gwa’ni Hatchery Field Supervisor - 2025**_(L18 - $62,699 - $73,528)_

**Position Summary**: Duties are to supervise the Hatchery Field Workers to carry out Salmonid Enhancement activities at the Gwa'ni Hatchery and in the Nimpkish Watershed as well as assist with the overall administration of the Hatchery.

**REPORTS TO**: Gwa’ni Hatchery Manager

**SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES**:

- Assists in the development of yearly, monthly, and weekly operational plans.
- Supervises field crews as assigned.
- Assists in the capture, spawning, incubation, rearing, tagging and adult assessment of various species of Salmonid.
- Assists in the keeping of consistent, timely and accurate records of all aspects of the Salmon Enhancement activities such as brood stock collection, adult enumeration, sampling, egg take, etc.
- Ensures all operational policies, ‘Namgis Personnel Policies and Workmen's Compensation Safety Regulations are adhered to.
- Assists in the development and implementation of a public relations strategy that explains the objectives of the Gwa'ni Hatchery Program.
- Maintains an inventory of supplies and equipment and informs the Manager of any inventory needs.
- Develops and implements a maintenance schedule for all Hatchery equipment and vehicles.
- Ensures that Hatchery facilities are maintained in a neat, clean, and organized operational order.
- Attends all program related meetings.
- Develops a 24 hour on call emergency schedule
- Acts as Hatchery Manager as required.

**SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS**:

- I year experience in a previous supervisory position.
- 3yrs experience working in a hatchery.
- Demonstrated knowledge of Salmonid species and their life cycles.
- Demonstrated knowledge of how to operate and maintain a boat, motors, and other machinery

**EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE**:

- Minimum Grade 12
- Certificate in fisheries management
- First Aid Certificate - an asset
- Valid Driver Licence

**UNUSUAL JOB FEATURES**:
