**This position will require the successful incumbent to provide proof of co-op eligibility, a transcript and tax credit form(s) from their school’s co-op department.**

**Job Summary**:
This position is a four month work term starting May 2025 and ending no later than September 2025. This position requires working 35 hours per week.

**Duties & Responsibilities**:

- Completion of traffic studies and observations such as left-turn queue studies, spot-speed studies, turning movement counts, and travel time studies;
- Field investigations to gather inventory of infrastructure and traffic control devices;
- Management of all traffic data requests from external agencies;
- Analysis of motor vehicle collision data to determine patterns and potential countermeasures;
- Warrant analysis including traffic signals, left turn lanes, all-way stops, and speed limit assessments;
- Assist with the management of traffic volume data on Traffic Engineering Software (TES) database;
- Assess existing and proposed signal timings (ie: capacity, level of service, and queuing) through Synchro 11 software package;
- Assist with reviewing capital and development drawings that impact the Regional right-of-way; and,
- Collaborate with parties within and external to the Region to ensure ongoing customer service targets are met.

**Skills & Qualifications**:
**Essential**
- Clear and concise communication.
- Knowledge of relevant traffic literature and legislation such as Ontario Traffic Manual (OTM), Transportation Association of Canada (TAC) Design Guidelines, and the Highway Traffic Act (HTA).
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite including Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Experience to complete traffic studies independently and report findings accurately and thoroughly.

**Preferred**
- Experience with Synchro 11, Traffic Engineering Software (TES), and Centracs.
- Knowledge of how a traffic signal operates, how to determine appropriate signal timings, and how to troubleshoot potential issues.
- Knowledge of different collision types and potential countermeasures.

**Working Conditions**
- The standard work schedule is 35 hours Monday to Friday; however, flexibility is required for the completion of traffic studies and observations.
- The incumbent may be required to drive a Regional vehicle and will be required to provide a copy of their driver’s license (“G”) and a driver’s abstract, by their first day of employment.
- The incumbent may be required to supply their own transportation.
- The successful applicant must be in possession of Canadian Standards Association (CSA) approved safety boots (requirement for all field investigation activities).

- The incumbent will be required to provide a copy of their “G” class driver’s license and driver’s abstract by their first day of employment.
