**POSITION DESCRIPTION: Field Electrical - Apprentice**

**Purpose of Position**:
**Position Responsibilities**:
Position responsibilities include but are not limited to:

- As the apprentice progresses; have the ability to read, interpret and understand electrical schematics
- As the apprentice progresses; have the ability to understand P&ID drawings for hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
- As the apprentice progresses; become familiar with different types of control systems, presses, feed lines, machinery, VFD’s, motors, servo’s, pumps, measuring devices, light curtains, etc. and understand their functionality for maintenance & troubleshooting purposes.
- Assist journey persons in installing VIT panels and equipment at customer locations
- Prepping material for field installations; cable lengths, junction boxes, organizing job boxes
- As apprentice progresses; Laying out junction boxes and device locations on press drawings, and building cable schedule sheets and layouts
- Complete all work in compliance with all applicable electrical and safety codes and standards (i.e. ESA, Electrical code, CSA standards etc.)
- Work in panel shop supporting panel builds and install preparation, as required
- Support journeyperson on service calls for by troubleshooting and diagnosing malfunctioning systems, equipment and devices
- Always work in a safe manner, working to promote and maintain strong safety culture
- Travel to customer sites to complete required project or service work
- Other duties as assigned

**Qualifications**
- Experience in an industrial or related working environment
- Ability to interpret electrical drawings is an asset
- Knowledge of machines and tools, including their designs, uses, repair, and maintenance
- Customer and Personal Service - knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer and personal services. This includes customer needs assessment, meeting quality standards for services, and evaluation of customer satisfaction.
- Knowledge of ESA and Code Regulations
- Knowledge and experience on man lift, elevated work platforms & forklift is an asset
- Excellent verbal & written communication skills in English
- Must be computer literate and have basic knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (i.e. Outlook, Excel, Word etc.)
- Must be willing to travel mainly within Ontario, occasionally foreign travel is required.
- Clean worker & organizational skills, able to take instructions and ask questions
- Have a working knowledge of basic tools and how machines work
