**Position Description**

At Halifax (HFX) Airport Hotel, we believe our guests select our hotel because of our employees who foster traditional Maritime Hospitality and who are dedicated to providing personalized service and meaningful experiences. The Guest Services Manager is responsible for all duties listed below as well as any additional tasks assigned by the Director of Operations and General Manager.
- Demonstrating strong leadership skills and taking initiative to solve problems and create solutions.
- Responsible for all daily operational duties of the front desk which includes: Taking reservations, checking people in and out, processing payments, and customer service. Providing effective, excellent communication with staff, such as current procedures and policies. Ensuring the appropriate number of staff are on each shift, creating schedules for our Guest Services Agents, Night Auditors, and Managers on Duty. Providing constant training, feedback, and coaching as well as disciplinary actions when appropriate. Covering the front desk or the MOD in the event of a sick call.
- Booking all meeting rooms, and group bookings which includes the following: Negotiating rates, Recruiting, establishing contacts for International Bookings. Assisting with their contracts, creating group master accounts, or BEOs. Ensuring their reservations are correctly made rooming lists are completed prior to arrival.
- Helping to maintain our hotel standards, ensuring our front desk team is aware of all current protocols.
- Assist with ordering supplies and maintaining relationships with our suppliers and contacts for several areas of the hotel.
- Monitoring all social media comments, questions, and feedback, focusing on International Communication.
- Working very closely with all other departments of the hotel such as the Accounts Receivables/Payables Manager, Housekeeping Manager, Maintenance Manager, Director of Operations, and General Manager.

**Position Requirements**

A true desire to satisfy the needs of others in a fast-paced environment. Refined verbal and written communication skills. Demonstrated ability to effectively interact with people of diverse socioeconomic, cultural, disability, and ethnic backgrounds. 4 years or more of progressive hotel management or equivalent experience is required. Hotel/Hospitality degree an asset. Must possess the following strengths: high energy, motivational leader, effective communicator, effective in providing exceptional guest service and ability to improve the bottom line. _**Clear concise written and verbal communication skills in English is a requirement of this position in order to maintain communication with International Guests.**_
