Toronto, Ontario, Canada (Hybrid)

Internship Duration: September 2025 - April 2026 (8months)

The PMO Intern at Hitachi Rail will work with Project Management Office to support in Governance while leveraging AI technologies to identify and address project management challenges by automating and enhancing key project processes. The intern will focus on streamlining the reporting governance, including the PMO Community Sharepoint site to ensure consistent messaging is conveyed to the overall PMO. The intern will focus on building AI-powered solutions that optimize project implementation, improve financial controls, streamline risk management, and improve stakeholder communication.

Key Accountabilities

  • Support the Project Management Office throughout the Governance and project lifecycle, including maintaining Project Operations Reviews and Governance Calendar.- Administer the PM Community Sharepoint site to ensure PMO wide messages and updates are updated on a regular basis.- Maintain, update and manage the PowerBi metrics with regards to Claims and Variation Orders Project Reporting for the business.- Support Project Managers and Associate Project Managers throughout the project lifecycle, including planning, execution, and monitoring.- Collaborate with the PMO and project teams to identify repetitive, manual, and time-consuming tasks that could benefit from AI automation or augmentation, develop and document practical AI use cases based on business needs- Contribute to the implementation of AI and business intelligence solutions (e.g., Python scripts) to automate recurring PMO reporting tasks

Key Requirements-

  • Completion of the second or third year of the undergraduate degree, or currently pursuing a master’s degree- Familiarity with MS Office tools, Power Apps and Phyton for business intelligence.- Excellent analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.- Ability to work 40 hours per week in a hybrid environment for the duration of the internship, including at least two in-office days per week (specific days may vary based on team needs).

Preferred Qualifications- Co-op student available for an 8-month term, with at least one additional quarter or semester of coursework remaining after the completion of the internship.- Exposure to Generative AI and prompt engineering techniques.- Interest in operational excellence, process improvement, and business automation.- Certification in project management (e.g., PMP) is considered a plus.
