**Job Summary**

Reporting to the Manager of Facilities Operations and Maintenance, the Supervisor of Custodial Services is responsible for; administering and supervising functions related to custodial duties for city owned and managed facilities, supervising functions related to corporate contracts for buildings, properties, services, and external agencies. Develops processes and control systems to document, monitor, and track contract performance, deadlines, budget, performance indicators, and benchmarks. Analyzes contract performance and develops strategic plans and makes recommendations to ensure effective and efficient operation of programs/services, and to optimize financial performance. The Supervisor is responsible for supervision of the custodial staff in their day-to-day duties as well as contracted cleaning staff.

Other duties include, but not limited to:

- Ensures that City policies, the terms of the collective agreement, WSIB regulations, WHMIS, health regulations, fire and insurance underwriter regulations are adhered to by supervised staff
- Monitors the custodial operating budget, and reports to Manager on status (budgeted vs actual), to account for discrepancies. Prepares purchase requisitions and invoices, and has signing authority
- Responds to after-hours emergencies
- Plans, coordinates, and administers minor specialized cleaning projects for buildings and properties, as assigned and within scope of operations. Conducts site visits to validate scope and prepare work plan and schedule
- Coordinate work activities and scheduling of custodial staff, and contracted custodial
- Thorough knowledge of cleaning systems and quality assurance programs, including washroom & floor care, chemical products and use of custodial equipment and tools

**Qualifications**
- Two (2) year Community College (Class 1 Building Environmental systems operator) or equivalent education or trade certificate as it relates to building management and maintenance is required
- A minimum two (2) years of supervisory experience in a commercial property with working knowledge of facilities maintenance and operations
- Ability to keep knowledge and skills current as it relates to new sanitation methods, material, systems and technologies
- Proven skills in building maintenance, janitorial best practices including HVAC systems, electrical, plumbing, air volume controls, building automation systems, and water treatment systems
- Must have excellent interpersonal and communication skills. Demonstrated ability to communicate with various stakeholders: city staff, members of the public, elected officials, contractors, various governing bodies and suppliers both verbally and in writing
- Understanding of inventory management best practices
- Knowledge of current building maintenance practices, building/property management procedures, and project management practices and methodology
- Knowledge of and ability to follow policies, procedures (including purchasing and financial procedures),related by-laws and legislation (e.g., fire, building code, health and safety, labour relations, tenancy law, private landowners, privacy, public health)
- Organizational and problem-solving skills to coordinate and prioritize work to meet immediate/ emergency needs; multi-task; and meet deadlines and service requirements
- Ability to write/maintain records on service contracts and work orders. Ability to write project correspondence, reports for management; specifications and scope of work for consultants and contractors, and staff where applicable; and deficiency lists. Ability to read industry manuals, bulletins, letters, and updates related to practices and policies
- Project management skills (planning, developing, and implementing project scope, specifications, and timelines)
- A valid Ontario drivers license in good standing and the use of a personal vehicle during the course of employment is required
- A valid Standard First Aid Certificate with a level C CPR is mandatory prior to commencing employment
- Applicants must submit a current Police Information Check (dated within the past 3 months) from their local police service for approval by the Corporation prior to commencing employment
- IMS 200 Certification or equivalent (ICS200) is considered an asset. Subject to course availability, certification must be achieved within the first year of employment
- Position requires the incumbent to work irregular hours outside of regular schedule which includes evenings and weekends

Pay: $43.21-$54.01 per hour
