We’re excited to see you explore the opportunity to join our team as Dean, Faculty of Academic Quality & Innovation The Dean, Faculty of Academic Quality & Innovation (AQI) reports to the Associate Vice President, Research & Development (R&D) and has responsibility for managing the Faculty’s operations, leading departments, and providing strategic leadership within the Faculty and at the college level. The Dean, AQI provides the strategic leadership and management for academic quality and innovation including new program development, curriculum development, developing Faculty, educational pedagogical and technological advancement, continuous improvement in the areas of teaching and learning and student experience, and academic quality assurance and accountability.

Working in consultation with other senior leaders across the College, including executive, and post-secondary partners, Advanced Education, and industry, the Dean, AQI will contribute to academic quality and innovation ensuring that students successfully develop the knowledge, technical skills, critical thinking skills, and interpersonal communication skills that will lead to success in their chosen careers.

This role will inspire and lead faculty and staff in positioning the Faculty as a leader in new and innovative program development and implementation, curriculum development, innovation in teaching and learning. As well as bolster a culture of quality assurance through initiatives such as cyclical program review and learning outcomes assessment. This role will utilize their previous experience and expertise, as well as industry and postsecondary alliances, to understand and identify how best to develop, deliver, and lead academic innovation and quality to meet the changing needs of the Faculty’s internal and external interest-holders which include students, Faculties, industry, various communities, and the Government of Alberta.

**College and Divisional Planning and Leadership**
- Creates a culture of “learner first” whereby every team member takes appropriate action to put the student experience at the center of their work.
- Seeks opportunities to innovate how we teach and learn, including the integration of creative technologies such as virtual reality, augmented reality, robotics, and artificial intelligence.
- Consults and provides expertise to other College leaders and Executive to develop sound educational strategies as well as academic and business practices by maintaining personal currency on academic and industry issues.
- Advances the College Strategic Plan by engaging faculty and staff with the organization.
- Engages faculty and staff in the continued drive to position the College as a leader in the provision of quality education and services.
- Provides leadership on academic and industry sector issues.
- Promotes and demonstrates decolonial indigenization within the Faculty and the College.

**Faculty Operations**
- Ensures sound financial stability by engaging faculty and staff in the financial planning process. Provides direction for the overall Faculty capital, operating, and revenue budget development, as well as managing Faculty expenditures.
- Provides leadership and direction in the development of financial resources for program development and other activities.
- Ensures that Faculty budgets support the College directions.
- Ensures programs and services comply with national/provincial standards of accreditation and leads the Faculty in striving for continual quality improvement.
- Provides high-level direction and oversight for the workload assignments of faculty and staff.

**Internal and External Communication and Advocacy**
- Ensuring two-way communication between departments, divisions, executive, and
service areas.
- Consulting with relevant regulatory and professional associations.
- Liaising with other post-secondary institutions to exchange information and develop partnership educational opportunities.
- Representing the College on relevant provincial and national post-secondary committees’ relationship development with industry and community organizations to support the ongoing development of Program Advisory Committees, to identify opportunities for student placements, and identify new areas of program/service development.
- Facilitating strong industry and community partnerships to understand and identify the successful alignment of curriculum and training required to meet the changing needs of employers and regulators.

**WHAT YOU BRING**:

- Related master’s degree, or a combination of education and direct equivalent and progressive experience.
- Alberta Teaching Certificate, TESL Certificate, or a related professional certificate is an asset. Quality Management Leadership Certification is also an asset.
- 7+ years progressive experience in senior post-secondary administration or related field.
