This position is a part of the Association of the Academic Staff of the University of Alberta (AASUA).
In accordance with the Administrative and Professional Officer Agreement, this full-time continuing position offers a comprehensive benefits package found on our Benefits Overview page and annual salary range of $77,966 - $129,950.
**Location** -This role is hybrid with a mix of remote and in-person. Work primarily takes place at North Campus Edmonton.

The Faculty of Kinesiology, Sport, and Recreation at the University of Alberta is one of the premier faculties of its kind.

**Position Summary**
Reporting jointly to the Dean of the Faculty of Kinesiology, Sport, and Recreation (KSR) and the Director, Faculty Development, College of Health Sciences, the Assistant Dean, Development will focus on the fundraising, donor engagement and stewardship priorities identified by the Dean of the Faculty of Kinesiology, Sport, and Recreation (KSR).
The Assistant Dean, Development is responsible for designing and implementing alumni engagement and fund-raising strategies of the Faculty as they relate to various constituencies, including alumni, friends, the University community and the wider professional community. Such strategies include the planning and execution of philanthropic solicitations; the explanation of the Faculty’s priorities in face-to-face visits with stakeholder individuals and constituencies; and stakeholder engagement events.
In both design and implementation, the Assistant Dean, Development and the Director, Faculty Development, College of Health Sciences, works closely with the Dean of the Faculty of Kinesiology, Sport, and Recreation (KSR) as a valued and integral member of the senior administration.
**Duties**
- Leads the strategic development and execution of faculty fundraising.
- Serves as manager for an active portfolio of approximately 80-100 individual, corporate, association, and foundation major gift suspects and prospects, for the purpose of managing the moves process for research, qualification, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship.
- Works collaboratively with senior management and academic leaders to implement effective “moves” strategies.
- Builds rigorous goal-setting combined with regular tracking, reporting, and transparency; uses tableau and other data analytic tools to benchmark success and to build advancement strategy.
- Remains up-to-date on current fundraising and volunteer management programs, practices and procedures being used in the not-for-profit sector, and informs Faculty deans and senior university administration of matters that will benefit and interest them in their work on behalf of the Faculty and University.
- Encourages and supports an ongoing connection between the Advancement team and academic colleagues.
- Ensures that potential donor meetings occur after careful planning and research to determine the linkages, interests, and potential resources of a major gift prospect.
**Minimum Qualifications**
- Advanced academic degree with 7-10 years of progressively responsible, full-time experience in sales, marketing, public relations, or advancement.
