The Payroll and Employee Relations Coordinator oversees payroll operations and supports employees with compensation and benefits-related matters. This role is essential in ensuring accurate, timely payroll processing, adherence to payroll regulations, and effective benefits administration. The coordinator also plays a key role in supporting the management in fostering a positive work culture through collaborative or administrative tasks as needed.

**Description**
- Permanent Full-time
- $33-36 per hour, 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday
- Reports To: Financial Controller
- Location: North Vancouver (In-Person)

**Common Roles and Responsibilities**
- Payroll Coordinator
- Process bi-weekly payroll ensuring accurate calculation of hourly wages, taxes and mandatory deductions in compliance with provincial and federal regulations.
- Audit daily timecards to ensure hours are allocated correctly into different job codes, equipment, daily trucks and work title.
- Coordinate with foremen, superintendents and project managers to resolve discrepancies, clarify time entry issues, and implement adjustments as needed.
- Administer vacation pay and overtime in compliance with company policies and HR standards.
- Ensure employee status changes, deductions, and benefits are accurately reflected in payroll, maintaining accurate records.
- Propose improvements related to payroll workflow and prompt employee time input to management.
- Generate any required payroll documentation for verification or legal purposes such as letter of employment or Record of Employment (ROE).
- Employee Relations and Other Tasks
- Support employee onboarding by ensuring accurate payroll setup and introduction to workplace policies and the site crew.
- Act as a primary contact for all employee inquiries related to compensation and benefits.
- Engage in the performance review process by handling pay-related recognitions and updates.
- Assist the management team with administrative tasks for team events.
- Support project managers in their effort to promote and sustain a positive workplace culture by identifying opportunities to improve team communication as they arise.

**Required Qualifications**
- Strong proficiency in written and spoken English
- A post-secondary degree or a college diploma in Accounting, Business Administration or any related field
- Minimum 2 years of full-cycle payroll processing experience
- Previous experience in the construction industry
- Minimum 3 years of experience and proven proficiency in Microsoft Excel
- Previous experience in Viewpoint (or similar payroll software for construction companies)
