**Title and number of the course**:JAL401H1S/JAL1145HS Field Linguistics/Field Methods

**Course description**:Practice in language analysis based on elicited data from a native speaker of a foreign language, emphasizing on procedures and techniques. This is not a language learning course but a linguistics course. Students will be analyzing the language with their linguistics skills.

**Hours of Work (hours available for each position)**: 140 hours

**Class schedule**: Tuesdays and Thursdays from 4 to 6 pm and weekly meetings (1 hour) with students outside of lecture times. A schedule with specific dates will be provided to the employee once the contract is finalized.

**Sessional dates of appointment**: January 1, 2025 - April 30, 2025.

remotely/online, or by a combination of delivery methods as determined by the Faculty or Department at a later date.

**Salary**: $52.26 per hour plus vacation pay

**A brief description of the duties**: The duties include oral translation from English into Yoruba; evaluate whether sentences produced by students represent what a speaker of the

language might say, tell short stories and transcribe these stories with students. Describe pictures and videos in Yoruba. Each session will be recorded so that students can listen to

the language outside of class time.

No paper submissions will be accepted.
