Artesian Performing Arts Inc. **Position Summary**:
APA is seeking a dynamic and experienced Artistic Director to manage its operations and services, focusing on programming, outreach, and facilities management. Under the general direction of the Board of Directors and in collaboration with the Operations Director, the Artistic Director will play a crucial role in enhancing our community engagement and artistic profile.
**Key Responsibilities**:
- Facilitate the programming of the Artesian including contracting performers, collaborating with local artists and organizations on their programming, and managing private facility rentals.
- Develop and strengthen relationships with local communities, artists, and performing arts organizations to enhance APA's advocacy and outreach.
- Manage day-to-day external communications, including social media, newsletters, and website content to align with organizational branding.
- Collaborate with the Operations Director to prepare and manage the annual operating budget and oversee programming expenses.
- Directly supervise frontline employees, contractors, and volunteers, ensuring effective onboarding and ongoing performance management.
**Qualifications**:
- Progressive leadership skills and knowledge of best practices in nonprofit management.
- Experience working with a Board of Directors and supervising a diverse team.
- Accountability to strategic planning and program goals.
- Strong connections to local, provincial, national, and international performing arts communities.
- Proficiency in financial planning, budget management, and capital improvement planning.
- Understanding of risk, crisis, and change management practices.
- Excellent communication skills and comfort representing the organization externally.
- Experience with working with booking agents and securing talent for diverse programming (preferred but nor required).
- Working knowledge of sound equipment and lighting systems (preferred but nor required).

This is a full-time permanent job position that calls for approximately 30 hours per week. However, there is significant flexibility in the hours and job expectations, working cooperatively in collaboration with the Operations Director. While there may be expectations to be available at the Artesian when there is a booked event happening, the remaining hours of work are at the discretion of the employee. This may present an excellent opportunity for an artist or another individual who wishes to have time to work on other projects throughout the week.
The starting salary will be in the range of $30,000-$35,000 annually. There are health benefits for the position paid by APA and a monthly cellular telephone allowance. There are also opportunities for bonuses and/or incentive-based pay in connection with increased bookings and ticket sales.
