Reporting to the President, Ottawa REDBLACKS & Ottawa 67’s, the Communications Specialist for the Ottawa 67’s Hockey Club will focus on enhancing the effectiveness of media professionals by supplying information and story concepts, facilitating interview requests, actively promote story pitches, and developing and nurturing relationships with members of the media. This role will also support communications activities relating to the Ottawa REDBLACKS, as needed and will collaborate with other departments within OSEG.

**What you’ll do**:

- Adhere to the communications guidelines and requirements as outlined by the various leagues in which our teams play;
- Prepare media game notes for sports teams;
- Write, translate, and distribute news releases;
- Manage game-day media relations;
- Coordinate and host news conferences;
- Primary contact for media and facilitate interviews;
- Manage media relations following team practices;
- Research and write content for annual team media guides and program booklets;
- Participate in departmental meetings and contribute story ideas;
- Build and foster relationships with media; grow the media database for all OSEG properties;
- Support broadcast coverage (TV, radio, online) of all sports properties;
- Monitor media coverage of all OSEG properties.

**What’s needed**:

- Post secondary degree or diploma in communications, public relations, journalism or related discipline;
- 1-3 years of experience in communications, public relations, journalism;
- Thorough understanding of CFL football and OHL hockey;
- Impeccable communication skills (spoken and written);
- Exceptional writing/proof-reading skills;
- Highly organized and able to multi-task;
- Excellent project/time management skills and strong attention to detail;
- Able to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines;
- A team player willing to step-in wherever needed;
- Willing to work unusual hours, evenings, and weekends;
- Video production, photography and web development skills an asset;
- Experience with CFL, USL, OHL, NFL, MLS, NHL, or CIS in a communications role an asset;
- Bilingualism in French and English is strongly preferred.
