**General Labourer - Welding/Packaging**

**Reports to**:
Production Manager

**Position Summary**:
This is an entry level general labour position. Previous experience in a metal fabrication shop is not required, however a basic knowledge and ability to use small power tools such as angle grinders and hand drills is a necessity.

**Work Schedule**:
**DAY SHIFT = 4x days on, 2x days off**

**NIGHT SHIFT = 5x days on and 3x days off**

**Duties**:

- Perform general tasks as assigned by Supervisor
- Handle materials - within the shop and outdoors as required
- Assisting various machine operators in setup; moving materials in and out of the shop using overhead hoist and forklift
- Operate basic hand tools and powered hand tools.
- Operate various equipment as described in company procedures
- Perform work safely and follow established work procedures
- General shop cleaning
- Adhere to health, safety and quality policies, as well as all company policies and

procedures
- Participate in training and safety meetings
- Other duties as required

**Competencies**
- Able to meet deadlines and do so safely
- Mechanically inclined, ability to use small hand tools and/or power tools
- Attention to detail
- Team player
- Strong aptitude to understand drawings
- Good verbal and written communication skills
- Able to follow and understand both oral and written instructions in English

**Qualifications/Requirements**
- Grade 12 or GED - additional education past high school would be an asset
- Manufacturing and forklift/overhead crane training or experience an asset
- Good physical fitness
- Stand or walk for long periods of time
- Use arms and hands to reach for, handle or manipulate materials
- Lift and carry materials weighing up to 50 lbs, lift items weighing more than 50 lbs with

assistance from other workers, forklift and/or overhead hoist
- Exposure to fine dust and airborne particles, high noise level

**Working Conditions**

You must be able to lift and carry materials weighing up to 50lbs, and lift over 50lbs with the help of other workers, forklift, and/or overhead hoist. There will be exposure to fine dust and airborne particles, high noise levels. While the worksite is primarily indoors, occasional outdoor work will be required.
