Health and Safety Coordinator

**Role Profile**

**Position**: Environmental, Health & Safety Coordinator - Goodall

**Job Location**:Collingwood, Ontario

**Summary of the Role**

This position works pro-actively with site leadership and employees to pro-actively build, support and maintain a safe work environment and ensure compliance to Health, Safety and Environmental standards.

**Responsibilities**:

- Must maintain 100% commitment to safety policies and procedures
- Maintain and update Safety and Environmental policies and maintain records
- Oversee employee safety and environmental training and records of corporate required online training modules, provincial requirements, and site specific training and initiatives
- Schedule and maintain records of testing, inspections, certifications of plant equipment infrastructure, and environment
- Develop location specific training with respect to safety and environmental legislation/best practices
- Create and conduct new employee safety orientation
- Oversee and maintain records of contractor information
- Conduct and maintain records of Joint Health and Safety Committee meetings as a certified chairperson
- Oversee safety supplies
- Daily presence on the plant floor
- Oversee workplace inspections, hazard assessment, training needs identification above existing programs in place
- Conduct incident investigations as required and maintain records
- Ensure facility compliance with OHSA, corporate directives, and plant specific initiatives
- Environmental monitoring and coordination of activities (obtain applicable disposal or water runoff permits; testing results, submissions, etc., coordinates with contractors as needed).
- Lead local/area Sustainability efforts to reduce carbon footprint
- Maintain environmental metrics records
- Maintain EHS communications boards
- Complete MOE NPRI reporting
- Interact with 3rd parties such as WSIB, MOE, MOL, Contractors, Engineering firms with issues pertinent to the facility with respect to EHS
- Maintain and update Environmental Management System Manual
- ISO14001 registered facility, audited 1 time internally and 1 time externally per year, EHS Co-ordinator is an integral and primary part of the audit process
- Keep up to date on changes with respect to EHS and best practices for recommendation to the Plant Manager for implementation of changes
- Learn, manage and train others on safety software systems (i.e. Intelex)Other duties as assigned

Knowledge and Skills
- Detailed and thorough; well-organized and able to interpret policy documents from 3rd party;
- Clear and professional writing skills
- Ability to interact with team-members in a professional manner
- Ability to work independently and prioritize responsibilities
- Must have excellent communication skills, both oral and written
- Must be able to successfully utilize the company software; MRP/ERP system

**Qualifications**
- Minimum three year college degree from an accredited institution or equivalent experience
- CRSP designation highly desirable; must be willing to enroll if not complete
- JHSC Level 2; Fist Aid / CPR
- 5 - 10 years in similar manufacturing role or equivalent education and experience
- Experience and knowledge of ISO 45001 Standard preferred
- PC proficiency, customer relationship management tools
