The John Howard Society of Peel Halton Dufferin is hiring a **Client Support Worker (general counselling) **for its Community Services program in Peel. The position is 35 hours/week, Monday to Friday, and includes a competitive benefits package. We follow a hybrid model and will continue to do so for the foreseeable future.

The position is responsible for general counselling, group facilitation, and record suspension assistance. The general counselling caseload is capped at 15 clients with 8-12 sessions per client. Group size fluctuates between 8-10 participants over 12 consecutive sessions.

**Qualifications**:

- Completion of post-secondary education in a related field
- A minimum of 2 years experience is preferred
- Excellent communication skills both oral and written and computer literacy
- Reliable Judgment and maintenance of boundaries are required when dealing with clients and other service providers
- Understanding of working with clients involved in the criminal justice system
- Understanding of homelessness/poverty and how these impact people living with mental illness and/or addictions
- Knowledge of and proficiency in current approaches for mental health and addictions, and client-centered principles
- Demonstrated conflict resolution and crisis prevention/intervention skills is an asset
- A valid license with access to a vehicle is preferred as there may be occasional travel in Peel and Halton.
