The Community Development Co-Ordinator (CDC) is a dynamic leader and collaborator, who is responsible for the development, administration, coordination, and overall management of community initiatives, community engagement, community group capacity building, fundraising initiatives, volunteer development, and special events.
The CDC provides leadership and administrative support to the Mount Forest Aquatics Fundraising team. The CDC will help promote awareness of the MF Aquatics Fundraising programs and will support the Fundraising Director and Officers with the planning, coordinating, and executing the delivery of the fundraising program.
The CDC will also provide Communications support for the Township. Aligning with the Strategic Plan, they will have responsibility for the Communication Policy and oversee all aspects of Township communications; website, social media, 88.7 The River, print materials, etc.
The CDC also has Grant Writer responsibilities for the Township and will identify, define, and develop funding sources to support existing and planned program activities as well as lead the development, writing, and submission of grant proposals to local, provincial, federal, and private funding agencies.
The CDC will collaborate closely with local community groups, organizations, non-profits, schools, volunteers, and businesses to create a collaborative network. They will use their high-quality leadership in the management and implementation of the Township’s Municipal Cultural Plan, keeping in mind the linkages to the Township’s Strategic Plan and Recreation Master Plan and other related resources.
**Core Responsibilities**:
- Reporting to the Manager Community & Economic Development the CDC will provide support to the MF Aquatics Fundraising Committee and assist with the implementation of the Fundraising Strategy approved by Wellington North council.
- Support the Fundraising Director & Officers with volunteer training, completion of a canvassing guide, donor research and identification, creation of a donor database, tracking and collection of donations and consulting with the Township of Wellington North Finance team to ensure all donations are properly recognized, reported and tax receipts issued accordingly.
- Works with appropriate personnel to research, develop, write and submit letters of inquiry, concept papers and grant proposals;
- Develops and maintains a master file on pending grants and contracts; Remains up-to-date on current issues relative to grant proposals and meet regularly with staff and community service groups to discuss current and new funding needs;
- Establishes, facilitates, and maintains collaborative partnership opportunities with local organizations, groups, businesses, and residents.
- Engage local community groups and partners to identify issues and solutions.
- Seek to enhance and support current community events, expand identified activities and programs, and assess the viability of offering new programs, initiatives, and community-wide events.
- As Team Lead for the implementation of the Township’s Municipal Cultural Plan promote recreation, leisure and cultural opportunities within Wellington North and provide leadership to the Wellington North Cultural Roundtable.
- Facilitate volunteer development opportunities within the community and the development of a volunteer recognition and awards program.
- Assist in the formulation of policies, guidelines, evaluation processes, goals, and objectives for programs and other areas as assigned.
- Guide municipal involvement and fundraising requirements for community-initiated projects.
- Prepare and deliver reports and presentations that provide sound recommendations and strategies to support Fundraising Committee and Council decision making.
- Contributes to the annual operating and capital budget process.
- Partner with Human Resources and Manager Community & Economic Development regarding people related issues and initiatives to meet current and future departmental and organizational objectives.
- Available during hours of operation with the ability to adjust working schedule to business needs; availability includes night and weekend hours of operation to meet with staff and Council, facility users, committees, volunteers, and stakeholders and be present for key events.
- Undertakes special projects and performs all other related duties as assigned.
- Post-secondary diploma/degree in Communications, Business, Marketing, Facility Management, or related experience.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to build strong relationships with various stakeholders demonstrated through the ability to facilitate, network, lead, analyze, and resolve issues in a professional manner.
