As a Retail Rentals Lead, you will be responsible for providing exceptional customer service and assist customers in renting various products or equipment from our rental fleet at Annapolis Home Hardware Building Centre. You will have to engage with customers and understand their project needs, explain usage of rental items and the terms and conditions of the rental contracts. You will have to use a computer to process rental transactions and reservations. The role will also be responsible for cleanup & maintenance and functionality of rental items (all equipment to be tested prior to going out and upon return). The Rental Lead will possess strong communication skills, attention to detail, and a positive attitude to ensure customer satisfaction and drive sales.

Specific Accountabilities:

- Greet customers and assist them in selecting rental items according to their project needs.
- Provide knowledgeable guidance on product features, usage, and rental terms.
- Ensure customers understand rental parameters, rates, and service charges
- Process rental orders accurately and efficiently using the point-of-sale system.
- Ensure all necessary paperwork is completed, including rental agreements and waivers, and collect payment for rentals.
- Address customer inquiries, concerns, or complaints promptly and professionally. Provide troubleshooting assistance for rental items and escalate complex issues to management when necessary.
- Ensure compliance with safety regulations and company policies and procedures for the use and maintenance of the rental fleet. Educate customers on proper usage and safety precautions for rented items.
- Keep the rental area clean, organized, and presentable always.
- Perform routine cleaning and maintenance tasks for the gear as needed.
- Perform troubleshooting and diagnosing of equipment malfunctions and failures.
- Inspect rental items for damage or defects before and after each rental period and coordinate repairs or replacements as needed, with Warehouse Foreman/Assistant Manager.
- Work towards achieving rental sales targets by actively promoting rental services and products to customers.
- Collaborate with other retail associates and store departments to provide a seamless customer experience and support to the overall store operations.
- Must safely operate store equipment required for efficient yard operation including lumber carts, forklifts, pallet jacks, order pickers, banding machine, ladders, chop saw, heavy equipment, etc.
- Be able to drive truck and trailer and other larger fleet components.
- Deliver rental equipment and other job materials to job sites when required; be available for other deliveries when requested
- Be available for snow removal during winter months for store opening.
- Ensure accurate record keeping for all repairs and maintenance completed for all rental equipment.
- Maintain an accurate record of work performed, materials used, and time spent on tasks.
- Must move throughout the yard to assist customers, check inventory status, and verify the safety and security of the yard.
- Ensure the warehouse and yard are kept clean and organized.
- Adhere to all safety protocols and procedures to prevent accidents and injuries.

Know How: (Technical, Interpersonal Skills and Knowledge Required)
- Previous experience in a retail sale, customer service, or rental preferred
- Strong interpersonal skills and communication skills
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail
- Good physical condition and ability to lift heavy objects and work on ladders and heights.
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
- Valid drivers license and have a reliable transportation.
- Driver’s abstract will be required.
- Knowledge of rental industry practices and equipment
- Knowledge of home improvement projects and industry trends an asset
- Ability to work a flexible schedule.
