Position Overview

We're seeking a compassionate and skilled Clinical Counsellor to deliver culturally responsive, trauma-informed support to families affected by domestic violence. In this pivotal role, you'll provide therapeutic interventions that promote healing, strengthen family bonds, and help prevent children from entering government care—all while shaping a brighter future for vulnerable you a compassionate, skilled therapist ready to make a real impact?

Reporting to the Program Manager, the successful candidate will provide individual and group counselling to both perpetrators and victims of domestic violence from diverse cultural backgrounds, using trauma-informed, culturally responsive approaches. Key responsibilities include conducting risk assessments and safety planning in collaboration with MCFD and community partners, facilitating therapeutic groups, and developing client-centered service plans. The role also involves maintaining accurate documentation, engaging in clinical supervision, participating in integrated case management, and staying current on best practices, counselling modalities, and community resources to support effective interventions and positive client outcomes.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will hold a Master's degree in Counselling Psychology, Social Work, or a related field, with eligibility for professional registration (RCC preferred). They will have a minimum of two years' experience delivering trauma-informed services, including family therapy, group facilitation, and therapeutic approaches grounded in CBT, attachment theory, and child development, with a strong understanding of multi-generational trauma and cycles of abuse.

The successful candidate will demonstrate an in-depth understanding of trauma-informed care, including the effects of multi-generational trauma on family systems. They will be well-versed in therapeutic modalities such as family therapy, CBT, expressive therapies, and attachment theory, with strong expertise in both individual and group counselling.

Experience in group facilitation is a key component of this role. The candidate must be skilled at creating safe, supportive group environments that foster healing, accountability, and positive behavioral change. This includes co-facilitation of DVIP groups and the ability to effectively manage group dynamics while maintaining trauma-informed and culturally sensitive approaches.

A solid understanding of the CFCSA and culturally agile practices is essential, as is the ability to collaborate with MCFD and community partners. Proficiency in assessments, safety planning, crisis intervention, case planning, and accurate documentation is also required.

This role requires the incumbent to undergo a Police Information Check (PIC), and a Vulnerable Sector Check by the Ministry of Justice.
