We are a local, fun, dedicated team of insurance broker professionals and we are looking to hire a full-time **Controller.**
- **About the Role**:_

Controllers work in a variety of environments, including in financial, clerical, or Management support roles. They perform a variety of duties for accounting firms or departments, such as preparing accounts, handling invoices, handle bookkeeping, and monitor budgets. They also often monitor departmental resources, manage payroll, write reports, and audit work.

Controllers must maintain professional relationships not only with their Management team, but other office staff, external accountants, bankers and Insurance companies. These professionals must be proficient with various accounting software and have a working knowledge of basic computer software such as Microsoft Office. Cluett's preference for the Controller position is work in an office setting during regular business hours.

This position typically requires accounting knowledge, which could include a combination of previous work experience with vocational or technical school or an associate degree in a general accounting, with designations an asset.

**Job Competencies**:

- Ability to work in a fast paced environment, multi task
- Ability to work independently, without need for constant supervision, and work to support the management team
- Ability to navigate and resolve issues and problems related to work duties, customer accounts etc.
- Ability to prepared monthly budgets, cash flow & projections. Monitor and report to management team at monthly meetings
- Monitor bank accounts and cash flow projections
- Exceptional knowledge and experience in accounting software programs, Microsoft office Suite, Powerbroker system and Simply Accounting
- Ability to oversee and submit Regulatory filings with CRA, BMO and Insurance Institute
- Excellent interpersonal skills, the ability to work well with all employees across all departments
- Knowledge of accounting / customer management systems
- Ability to Reconcile accounts and Company statements
- Demonstrated ability as a supportive, productive team player, client -focused, dependable & reliable and organized at all time
- Knowledge & complete payroll functions in Payworks each pay period
- Attend networking sessions to keep up on new processes, maintain & build new relationships with other accountants, keep up on regulations and keep designation in good standings
- Excellent interpersonal skills, the ability to work well with all employees and closely with the Management team
- Attention to detail, impeccable analytical and organizational skills
- Self-motivated and self-directed

**Responsibilities Would Include**:

- Maintaining the Customer Accounts on daily basis
- Operating Payments: coding payments completed and filing
- Updating and Maintaining the Accounting Procedures Manual
- Visa & Other, Reconciliations as required monthly
- Complete Month End and Year End process
- Regulatory filings with CRA, BMO and Insurance Institute Oversight of and accounting for Subsidiary companies
- Service customers and Customer Service Representative (CSR) through:_
- Deposits - E-transfers, Cheques, Debit, Bank Runs
- Cheques - Broker Cheques, Refund Cheques, IFS Cheques
- Address Customer Account Inquiries
- Aged A/R Review and distribution
- Reconciliation of Agency Bill and Direct Bill Statements to PB Transactions
- Maintain a good working relationship with CSR's - open door policy
- Preparing, monitoring and revising annual and monthly budgets
- Monitoring of all bank accounts and cash flow projections

**Educational Pre-Requisites & Qualifications**:

- Bachelors Degree in Business, Accounting, Finance or related discipline
- Accounting designation (CMA, CGA or CA) would be an asset
