**Role Expectations & Summary**:
Our Individuals at our Sandpiper Group Home are looking for a Community Support Worker professional. This group home resides in NorthWest area of Calgary. On this team, you will be supporting a variety of Individuals will complex behaviors and disabilities. Your expectation will be to motivate our Individuals to be independent and have a valued role in the community.
Looking for staff who is confident to work with autism and developmental delay. Individuals may display physical behaviours of concerns. Required good understanding of behaviour support plan, CPI intervention, First aid and CPR. Having good resources of community events & activities - implementing them with clients' needs. The Individuals you work with may require personal care, g-tube feedings, for you to drive and accompany them to medical appointments, or other assistance in their daily activities.
With a passion for supporting people with disabilities, you will
- Provide medical, technological, environmental, emotional, physical, and behavioural support.
- Attend medical/legal appointments with the Individuals.
- Administer daily documentation, medication of the Individual, and key worker duties.
- Assist Individuals in their daily chores and activities within the community or in the group home.
- Support safety and cleanliness of the Individual's living space.
- Complete tasks such fire drills//hazard assessments.
- Communicate with OPG/Guardians/Family Member.
- Collaborate, advocate & research for the support Individual if necessary, such as hospitals if required.
- Specific support to the Individuals on an ODP (Opioid Dependency Program) or O.A.T.
- Drive to meet Individuals, or be able to transport them to activities or appointments throughout the day.
- Learn the behavioural support plans to better understand Individual needs and requirements.
- Effectively complete required incident reports.

**About you**:
You are someone who is dedicated to learning and researching about ongoing behaviors or concerns of the Individuals. As this group home facility is heavy on Individuals with trauma and addiction, you have previous work or learning experience in Harm Reduction Philosophy & Trauma Informed Care Practices. You have an adequate knowledge about current mental health and addiction concerns and behaviors. You are willing to understand and learn the Individual's trauma history and collaborate with your team to come up with strategies to support them. You have excellent leadership skills and qualities, where you are not afraid to step-up in a crisis situation. You are someone who brings an adaptive, strong, and bold personality, as there will be Individuals who have verbally and physically aggression tendencies. You are willing to take the time to understand and know your Individual and act/respond in their best interest, while maintaining professional boundaries. You have previous experience working with Individuals with disabilities; therefore, you are willing to research, develop, and implement programs to provide for growth the Individual. You can easily manage administrative work to create rapports for the Individual.
**Schedule & Benefits**:
This permanent fulltime 40-hour/week position. The schedule will be Friday to Sunday 7:00am
- 3:00pm and Monday & Tuesday 3:00pm
- 11:00pm. This position will be suitable for an individual with an adaptive personality, as there will be variety of tasks throughout the day. The starting pay rate for this position will be $21.19 with potential of getting a raise after the annual evaluation. After three months probationary period, you will be eligible for cost-shared health and dental benefits along with 5 flex days after the three months of employment. As driving is a requirement, we reimburse the mileage at $0.50/km.
**Minimum Requirements**:

- Minimum of a Canadian Certificate/Diploma in the Human Services or Disability sector (equivalencies will be considered).
- Intermediate computer skills and MS Office proficiency.
- Valid class 5 driver’s license and a reliable vehicle, with minimum $
