**24 Month Contract** Reporting through the Manager, Operations, and under the direction of the Waste Program Coordinator, the Waste Contract and Programs Monitor assists in the administration of the Town’s Solid Waste Programs by supporting the development, implementation, execution and monitoring of programs; answering waste program inquiries and concerns, providing education on the Town’s Waste By-laws, investigating issues and complaints, and promoting program goals to implement solid waste management best practices and waste reduction. Job Requirements - Post-Secondary diploma in Environmental Studies/Sciences or related discipline, and/or equivalent combination of education and experience. - Demonstrated related experience in a public sector environment with an understanding of municipal government and by-law enforcement. - Sound interpersonal, communication, investigative/research, problem solving, public relations, and organizational skills. - Strong ability to work independently with minimum supervision and as part of a team. - Strong knowledge of effective customer service techniques and time management skills. - Ability to deal effectively and courteously with staff, contractors, council members, and the public. - "G" Class Driver’s License in good standing satisfactory to the Town of Newmarket. - Ability to lift heavy objects and load and unload into the back of pick-up truck. - Good knowledge of health and safety regulations, WHMIS, by-laws, and procedures.
