_Matalco Inc. operates a manufacturing facility in Brampton, Ontario which produces 6000 series extrusion grade aluminum billet/log. We are_ currently seeking qualified applicants for the position of Casthouse Production Operator.

**This is a full time position offering a total rewards package, including competitive base salary, performance incentive plan, group benefits and pension; with opportunities for career advancement in a growing company.**

**Upon the completion of the training period the following rotating schedule will apply**:
Week 1 (7:00AM - 7:00PM) - Monday/Tuesday/Friday/Saturday/Sunday

Week 2 (7:00AM - 7:00PM) - Wednesday/Thursday

Week 3 (7:00PM - 7:00AM) - Monday/Tuesday/Friday/Saturday/Sunday

Week 4 (7:00PM - 7:00AM) - Wednesday/Thursday

**RESPONSIBILITIES**:

- Committed to Health & Safety as a top priority, carries out responsibilities in compliance with the provisions of the governing Occupational Health & Safety legislation and its regulations, operating in a manner that will not create hazards, while contributing to and promoting a safe workplace;
- Recommends improvements to processes and procedures and reports all accidents, incidents, and unsafe conditions to immediate supervisor;
- Ensures 100% compliance with all safety procedures;
- Committed to delivering quality products to our customers, carries out responsibilities in accordance with Quality and Environmental policies, procedures, and objectives to produce quality work product and contribute to and promote an environmentally conscious workplace;
- Recommends improvements to processes and procedures;
- Manage and supervise team members and their functions to ensure a continuous flow of product through all areas of operations;
- Supervise team members regarding the adherence to company policies including but not limited to: safety, attendance, performance, data reporting, and housekeeping;
- Train and support development of team members in all areas of skill development;
- Will be responsible for managing employee performance in support of management policies;
- Also responsible for general business operations, and reporting issues to Production Manager;
- Actively provide input regarding productivity improvements and participate in continuous improvement efforts;
- Achieve company goals and objectives, including but not limited to productivity, safety, reporting, scrap, and cost reduction. Operate front end loader, overhead crane, and forklift when/if required;
- Load charge buckets with scrap aluminum using the front end loader;
- Check aluminum chemistry and add hardeners (e.g. Silicon, Magnesium, copper, etc) as required;
- General housekeeping as required;
- Provide coverage for other production staff if/when required;
- Crosstrain in a multitude of production related areas (e.g. Casting, Rotary Furnace, Saw);
- Other duties will be assigned as required.

**WORK CONDITIONS, ESSENTIAL SKILLS AND PHYSICAL CAPABILITIES**:

- Reading/writing, document use, and mathematical ability;
- Working with others and decision making;
- Must be able to lift up to 35 lbs.;
- Attention to detail will be required;
- Standing, climbing, bending and crouching will be required.

**QUALIFICATIONS**: The qualifications listed below represent the minimum requirements for this position. Additional experience/qualifications will be preferred.
- 5 years of experience in a Leadership role;
- Previous experience operating a front end loader, overhead crane, and counterbalance forklift is required;
- Previous foundry, hot metal, furnace and alloying experience will be considered an asset;
- Proven ability to demonstrate good communication skills (verbal/written) with a positive attitude;
- Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD) or equivalent is preferred but not required.
