Job Purpose

As part of the Dynamic Housing Services Team the Housing Resource worker will provide intake and access to coordinated services for all those individuals experiencing homelessness or risk of homelessness. The duties of the Housing Resource Worker include but are not limited to intake, prioritization and referral and assessment of clients seeking services related to housing security. The Housing Resource worker will connect and refer clients to support services, provide support to secure permanent housing through landlord connections and support clients with housing loss prevention and basic living needs support in collaboration with the rest of the Housing Services Team.

**Responsibilities**:

- Provide coordinated and formalized Community Housing Support Intake services
- Assist with Housing Prevention including liaising with landlords to prevent eviction and preserve tenancy.
- Provide information on housing availability.
- Assist with setting up housing including insurance, security deposits, moving expenses, furniture etc.
- Broker access to basic needs services including referral to Clinical and Treatment services, income and employment services, as well as education and training.
- Refer and liaise with other members of the Housing Services Team
- Maintain the Housing Services data bank and ensure data is dissemination in support of Housing Advocacy.
- Attend regular Team meetings and community committees as requested.
- Develop and expand community service partnerships, liaisons and integration.
- Update Housing Services Policies and Procedures as required

**Qualifications**:

- Relevant post-secondary diploma in the social services field or a minimum of 3 years of related experience or an equivalent combination of both
- Excellent work habits including team work, working independently, ability to follow instructions and make decisions within the framework of this contract.
- Non-judgemental and positive attitude to work with those who are homeless or at risk of being homeless - ability to work without prejudice.
- Effective communication skills both with persons served and with community colleagues.
- Physical and mental abilities to carry out the duties of this position including the ability to follow the Centre codes of conduct, and deal with stressful situations.

Knowledge
- Experience in delivering services related to homelessness.
- Knowledge of tenancy and landlord rights and obligations
- Knowledge of community resources and services including access to employment, education, social, and health services.
