**Job Summary**

Attention job seekers, Vela Canada is assisting in the search for an exceptional **Part-time, On-Call, Support Worker,** to support a kind and tech loving individual. The shift will be every **Monday & Sunday **from **8:00 am to 4:00pm **and **Sundays 4:00pm to 8:00pm **in **Maple Ridge**. This position aims to provide individual-centered assistance to help maintain his independence while achieving his personal goals. As his support worker, you will be performing the following duties and responsibilities.
- Supporting and transporting individual to social or recreational activities
- Administering and recording medication(s)
- Preparing and assisting with personal care (ex: bathing, oral hygiene, skin care and toileting)
- Providing individual with mobility support
- Performing housekeeping duties
- Adapting and rescheduling individual's day according to their behavioral and moody changes
- Consistently ensuring a safe and positive environment for the individual
- Accompanying and/or attending individual's medical appointments, recreational, social, and leisure activities
- Other assigned duties by Microboard

**Qualifications**

Education & Experience Requirements
- Community Support Worker Certificate/Long Term Care Aid Certificate or equivalent experience
- Valid First Aid & CPR Certificate
- Non-Violent Crisis Intervention Certificate
- Experience working with individuals with intellectual, behavioral, and physical challenges
- Valid driver’s license
- Ability to efficiently move and transfer individuals with a reliable van

Skills, Abilities & Knowledge
- Knowledgeable of the local community, activities, and events
- Ability to support individuals who communicate through behavioral and physically means in a dignified manner
- Ability to the work as team player with family, friends, and Microboard members
- Empathy, patience and a compassionate approach
- Strong organizational and time management skills
- Understanding of client confidentiality and privacy
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills
- Basic computer literacy

**Special Requirements**
- Must provide a complete and current Vulnerable Sector Check (including criminal record check) or be willing to obtain on
- Valid driver’s abstract from ICBC
- Reliable vehicle
- Completed and signed Medical Consent Form
- Flu shot, Hepatitis B Vaccine, Covid - 19 Vaccines, Tuberculosis screening
- Able to safely move in various manners such as bending and partial lifting patient

**Job Types**: Part-time, Permanent

Pay: $20.00-$24.00 per hour

Expected hours: No more than 30 per week
