**Qualifications**:
- Current certificate in safe food handling
- Customer service training
- High school diploma or equivalent
- WHMIS training and knowledge in Material Safety Data Sheets
**Required Skills**:
- Ability and experience demonstrated through positive performance appraisals and work history
- Knowledge of special diets
- Minimum of one year experience (within the last 2 years) in large volume food service; institutional setting is preferred
**Abilities**:
- Ability to work rotating shifts, holidays and/or weekends may be required.
- Able to function in a self-directed work team
- Cafeteria duties including operation of cash register.
- Monitors and updates special diets using computer program
- Monitors inventory and process orders
- Must be pleasant, co-operative and able to communicate well with patients, public, as well as Healthcare Team members
- Other duties as required.
- Possesses good organizational skills and able to speak and write English fluently
- Practices safety procedures, accident prevention and proper lifting techniques
- Preparation and/or portioning of food as well as kitchen/department clean-up duties (including pot wash/dish room duties).
- Receipt and control of stock/goods.
- Replaces staff when short call replacement is required
- Stock/care/maintenance/control of Nutrition and Food Service Equipment (ie. food distribution carts/vending machines etc.)
- Consistently meets attendance expectations, demonstrating reliability and commitment to scheduled shifts.
