These positions also offer valuable flexibility, growth opportunities, and pathways into future full-time roles as they become available.From an accredited healthcare provider of CanadaCurrent certificate in safe food handling (or be willing to obtain within a week of accepting position)High school diploma or equivalentWHMIS training and knowledge in Material Safety Data SheetsRequired Skills:Ability and experience demonstrated through positive performance appraisals and work historyKnowledge of special dietsMinimum of one year experience (within the last 2 years) in large volume food service; institutional setting is preferredAbilities:Ability to work rotating shifts, holidays and/or weekends may be required.Able to function in a self-directed work teamCafeteria duties including operation of cash register.Monitors and updates special diets using computer programMonitors inventory and process ordersMust be pleasant, co-operative and able to communicate well with patients, public, as well as Healthcare Team membersOther duties as required.Possesses good organizational skills and able to speak and write English fluentlyPractices safety procedures, accident prevention and proper lifting techniquesPreparation and/or portioning of food as well as kitchen/department clean-up duties (including pot wash/dish room duties).Receipt and control of stock/goods.Replaces staff when short call replacement is requiredStock/care/maintenance/control of Nutrition and Food Service Equipment (ie. food distribution carts/vending machines etc.)Consistently meets attendance expectations, demonstrating reliability and commitment to scheduled shiftsThe above is intended to describe the general content of and requirements for the performance of this job.
