- Position Summary:_
- Essential Functions:_- Works with other departments to coordinate activities to serve both internal and external customers.-
- Mentors, motivates, and develops staff and acts as a role model and resource to them.-
- Provide ongoing performance management to all Transportation Team Members including performance reviews and progressive discipline.-
- Implements succession planning by mentoring, guiding, and developing Assistant Transportation Supervisors to prepare them to grow with Gordon Food Service.-
- Assists in interviewing, hiring, training, and retaining transportation associates.-
- Completes weekly scheduling of direct reports including vacation planning. Ensures all routes are filled through the route bidding process.-
- Conducts analysis of vehicle, driver, and route assignments for high utilization; affects necessary changes to increase efficiency and lower costs.-
- Acknowledges the need for route creation and changes to current routes to better serve Gordon Food Service’ external customers.-
- Works with the team to properly understand and assign all credit codes when handling customer returns.-

- Reviews department invoices and submits all charges through the OnBase tracking system.-

- Serve as liaison between Sales Service Drivers, Sales, and customers to determine causes and impact of service opportunities and provide possible solutions to service issues.-
- Ensures compliance with administrative policies, procedures, safety rules, and governmental regulations. Supports departmental goals.-

- Operational Skills: Demonstrated ability in logistics and distribution management understanding and implementing warehousing and transportation systems, maximizing efficiency in product flow, and utilizing logistics and distribution technology to improve efficiency and cost effectiveness.-
- Strategic Skills: Demonstrated ability in strategic and innovative thinking, significant contributions in strategic planning at a senior level, implementing strategic initiatives and challenging status quo thinking.-
- Servant Leadership Skills: Demonstrated ability in practicing servant leadership by identifying and meeting the legitimate needs of others and influencing them to more fully contribute their resources toward beneficial goals, with character that inspires confidence.- EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATIONS:
- Previous Supervisory experience in a Transportation setting is an asset-
- Experience working in an effective, results focused team environment-
- Excellent organization skills and time management in dealing with multiple projects and deadlines-
- Strong communication skills both verbal and writtenProficiency in Google Suite (docs, sheets, forms)-
