**Hours: Monday to Friday, 40 hours/week, 8:00 AM - 4:30 PM, **_**with occasional over-time as needed.**_

**Our office uses Electronic Medical Records; strong computer skills are required.**

Our ophthalmology clinic is looking for an energetic, team-oriented, detail-oriented, positive surgical coordinator to join our team A willingness to learn and study will be required. Full training will be provided upon hiring.

**Statement of Duties**

Under general supervision, the surgical coordinator is responsible for scheduling patient surgeries.

**Duties Include**
- Managing the surgical wait lists and scheduling surgeries accordingly
- Booking, coordinating, and scheduling patient pre-op and post-op appointments, technician appointments, and lens counselling as needed
- Acquiring all necessary surgical documents from patients
- Contacting patients to notify and prepare them for their upcoming surgery
- Entering the surgery wait list into the provincial wait list database
- Filling cancellations in a timely manner
- Booking urgent/stand-by surgeries
- Handling all special requests from surgeons and hospitals/surgery centres
- Creating OR charts for the surgeon which includes post-op prescription and instructions, acquiring previous OR reports, any special instructions such as arranging home care requests, Handi-Transit, accommodation after surgery if needed, an interpreter, ordering tissue, etc.
- Updating patient surgical histories in the electronic medical record

**Salary**: From $18.00 per hour
