Job Overview

Taisanese (also spelled Taishanese, Toisanese, or Toishanese) is a Chinese language variety from the Yue (Cantonese) branch, spoken mainly in Taishan (Toisan), a county-level city in Guangdong province, China. It was historically one of the most common Chinese languages spoken by Chinese immigrants in North America, especially before the mid-20th century.

**Responsibilities**:

- Provide personal care assistance including bathing, grooming, and toileting
- Assist with mobility and transfers, including heavy lifting when necessary
- Administer medications as directed by healthcare professionals - Perform light housekeeping tasks to maintain a clean and safe environment
- Offer companionship and emotional support to individuals under care
- Communicate effectively with healthcare professionals, family members, and other team members Skills
- Experience in home care, patient care, or caregiving is preferred
- Knowledge of assisted living or nursing home procedures is a plus
- Ability to lift and move patients safely when required
- Familiarity with medication administration protocols is beneficial - Strong communication in Taisanese is a plus and interpersonal skills to interact with patients and their families

**Job Types**: Part-time, Casual

Pay: $15.00-$29.40 per hour

Expected hours: 25 per week

Ability to commute/relocate:

- Calgary, AB T3K 1Z9: reliably commute or plan to relocate before starting work (preferred)

**Education**:

- Secondary School (preferred)

**Experience**:

- Home care: 1 year (preferred)

**Language**:

- Cantonese (preferred)
- Taisanese (Toisan)? (required)

Licence/Certification:

- Class 5 Licence (preferred)

Work Location: In person
