Construction Dock Master

Position Overview:
The Dock Master is a site representative appointed by the Landlord. In this critical role, the Dock Master will be responsible for overseeing and coordinating all aspects of the delivery process, ensuring compliance with site safety requirements and regulations. The primary objective is to facilitate the smooth and efficient flow of deliveries while minimizing disruptions to operations and maintaining a safe working environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Delivery Coordination: The Dock Master will act as the primary point of contact for all deliveries to the site. They will effectively communicate and coordinate with delivery drivers and crews to ensure the timely and safe arrival of goods. This includes verifying delivery schedules, coordinating unloading activities, and ensuring compliance with the Contractor's site safety requirements, including the use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Access Control and Traffic Management: The Dock Master will regulate access to the site, specifically focusing on the designated entrances along Cambie Street and the loading docks located in the parkade floors. They will be responsible for directing trucks and contractors' vehicles to appropriate areas for unloading and subsequently ensuring their prompt removal from the premises. The Dock Master will also oversee traffic flow within the site, implementing effective traffic management strategies to prevent congestion and maintain a smooth operation.
- Material Handling and Delivery: Working closely with tenants, the Dock Master will oversee the handling and delivery of offloaded materials from the designated loading docks to each tenant's workplace. They will collaborate with tenants to determine delivery schedules, prioritize deliveries based on project needs, and ensure proper coordination with construction activities. The Dock Master will also be responsible for coordinating the delivery of oversized objects, obtaining prior written approval and determining appropriate mall routes for their transportation.
- Access Management and Safety Compliance: The Dock Master will control access to the site, permitting entry to tenants, their agents, and construction personnel within designated routes and times. They will enforce compliance with safety regulations, ensuring that all individuals accessing the site adhere to the required safety protocols and procedures. The Dock Master will also provide guidance and support to tenants and contractors regarding safety measures, facilitating a safe working environment.
- Site Protection and Damage Control: The Dock Master will enforce guidelines regarding material handling equipment and tools used on the mall floor or common areas. They will ensure that only equipment with soft white rubber wheels, wheel socks, and belly diapers are permitted to prevent damage to the flooring and property. In the event of any damages caused during deliveries, the Dock Master will liaise with the responsible party (tenant or contractor) to facilitate reimbursement for repairs to the building's construction property.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in logistics, coordination, or a related field, preferably within the construction or commercial real estate industry.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively interact with delivery drivers, tenants, and construction personnel.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple responsibilities in a dynamic environment.
- In-depth knowledge of safety regulations and protocols related to construction sites, material handling, and traffic management.
- Attention to detail to ensure strict compliance with guidelines, procedures, and schedules.
- Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team and independently with mínimal supervision.
**Salary**: $100,000.00-$130,000.00 per year
