**About the Rental Protection Fund**
The Rental Protection Fund is a non-profit organization created to safeguard affordable housing, building a more sustainable and equitable future for British Columbians. Our mission is to slow the loss of existing, occupied rental homes by supporting their acquisition by non-profit affordable housing providers.
Led by the community housing sector and backed by a $500 million provincial investment, the Fund is focused on creating housing stability and keeping homes affordable.
At the Rental Protection Fund, you’ll find a passionate, team driven by a unique social purpose mandate that draws from diverse sectors, including real estate, urban planning, public policy, and geography, all united by a shared commitment to impact. We’re big on bold ideas, curious minds, and creative, tech-forward approaches to preserving the affordability that already exists.
**The Role: Manager of Communications**
Reporting to the Director of Public Affairs, the Manager of Communications is responsible for leading and implementing the Fund’s marketing and communications strategies, including digital content creation, social media management, and stakeholder engagement.
We’re looking for a creative, detail-oriented communicator who’s just as comfortable designing an infographic as they are writing an engaging post or crafting a compelling narrative. If you’re a creative and strategic thinker with excellent writing skills, a sharp eye for design, and a passion for impactful storytelling, this might be the role for you.
**Key Responsibilities**
- Strategic Communications & Brand Development _
- Lead the development and execution of the Fund’s communications strategy across digital, print, and public-facing platforms.
- Help shape the voice of the organization and engagement with key audiences.
- Ensure consistent brand voice and visual identity across all materials.
- Content Creation & Storytelling _
- Take the lead on writing, editing, and designing engaging content for newsletters, blog posts, reports, and social media.
- Create visual assets including infographics, social media graphics, and presentations using tools like Canva or Adobe Creative Suite.
- Develop and update website content using Webflow.
- Digital Engagement & Social Media _
- Manage the Fund’s social media presence (Instagram, LinkedIn, X) to grow awareness, engage partners, and build community.
- Monitor interactions and manage public engagement across digital platforms.
- Use analytics to track performance and inform future content and strategy. Bonus points if you love a good dashboard.
- Media Monitoring & Stakeholder Support _
- Support the Director of Public Affairs in tracking media coverage and identifying relevant issues and opportunities.
- Contribute to briefing notes, talking points, and backgrounders for media or stakeholder engagements, as needed.
- Project Coordination & Internal Support _
- Collaborate across the organization to support internal and external communications priorities.
- Keep communications files and systems organized, from asset libraries to subscriber contact lists to that one logo file no one can ever seem to find.
**About You**
You’re a thoughtful communicator with a sharp eye and the ability to thrive in dynamic environments. You care about making a difference, and you bring equal parts creativity and precision to your work. You’re eager to use your skills in a way that has real-world impact, and ideally, you’re at least a little bit nerdy about tools, storytelling, and strategy.
- Required Qualifications: _
- Degree or diploma in communications, marketing, journalism, design, or a related field.
- Minimum 3 years of experience in a communications, marketing, or digital content role.
- Excellent writing, editing, and storytelling skills across formats and audiences.
- A strong visual sensibility and eye for design and layout.
- Proficiency with tools such as Adobe Creative Suite, Canva, and Microsoft 365.
- Experience managing social media for an organization or brand.
- Great organizational skills.
- Nice to Have: _
- Experience working with non-profits, Indigenous organizations, or in the housing, real estate, or finance sectors.
- Familiarity with Webflow or other CMS platforms.
- A love of data, dashboards, and turning metrics into stories.
- Comfort with emerging tech and tools for content creation (e.g., ChatGPT, Canva Magic).
**Why Join Us?**
This is a future-forward role where your work won’t just build a brand, it will help protect homes, preserve communities, and make a real difference in people’s lives.
If you’re excited by the idea of shaping the voice of a growing organization, championing housing affordability, and creating content that connects, we’d love to hear from you.
