**Repair Technician Job description**
**Title**: Cylinder Repair Technician
**Department**: Operations
**Reports to**: Production Manager
**Purpose**: This role exists to care for walk-in clients, diagnose their hydraulic cylinder problems and repair or replace the cylinder as necessary in a timely manner. Our goal is to create a customer experience that makes them refer their friends.
**Accountabilities**:
- Greet clients in a friendly and professional manner. Typically, clients will arrive unannounced with a broken cylinder. After discussing the cylinder concern, we expect a product/client ID tag to be filled out and a verbal estimate to be given to the client. Customer Service will be responsible to estimate.
- Diagnose cylinders after disassembly. Recommend repairs that aren’t absolutely necessary but will bring quality back to OEM spec.
- Operate hydraulic pressure testing machine. Install fittings and hoses, bring pressure up to spec and test cylinders made in production. Remove hoses and drain oil as necessary. Hang on paint rack.
- Set up and operate manual lathe and Mill to manufacture broken components
- Maintain an organized work area at the repair bench. Clean and store all hand tools when not in use.
- Recommend new and replacement tool purchases.
- Practically speaking, you’ll;
- Measure and machine various hydraulic/pneumatic cylinder components
- Diagnose failure reasons and inspect finishes
- Assemble and Disassemble hydraulic cylinders both new and rebuilt
- Test, paint and package finished product for shipment
- Find efficiencies/strategies for improved processes
- Follow schedules as necessary
- Communicate with other team members on priorities at Production meeting weekly and manage efforts to achieve these
**Qualifications**:
Mechanical mind, dexterity, understanding of hydraulic systems and their components, safe CNC machine operation, crane operation, forklift operation, test bench operation, friendly flexible demeanor for client interaction, at least 3 years’ experience working with vehicle or hydraulic component repairs.
I am open to different experience and skill levels, but pay will depend upon how relevant it is to our industry.
**Working Conditions and Physical requirements**:
This role involves some heavy lifting (45 lbs.) Many cylinders come in rather dirty and leaking hydraulic oil. Much of the day is spent standing and operating hand tools. All work is performed indoors during regular day shift, Monday through Friday.
Pay: $22.00-$34.00 per hour
