**Special Projects Officer, College of Agriculture and Bioresources**:
**Primary Purpose**: The position will be responsible for planning, leading and implementing special projects for the kihci-okâwîmâw askiy Knowledge Centre. The primary goal of the position is to support the implementation of the kihci-okâwîmâw askiy Knowledge Centre goals with effective project and event management that will contribute to positive internal and external community engagement.

The main objective of this position is to further strengthen capacity of the kihci-okâwîmâw askiy Knowledge Centre by further developing relationships with Indigenous peoples, communities, and organizations.

**NATURE OF WORK**: Reporting to the Director, kihci-okâwîmâw askiy Knowledge Centre, the officer requires a high level of collaboration and team work skills, dedication for the development of reciprocal relationships, and respectful approaches to engaging with a variety of audiences.

The position is located in a fast-paced, high-volume office with competing demands that require the ability to work under pressure. The Officer will work at establishing respectful working relations with internal and external stakeholders and partners. Impact of error from inaccurate advice, information or service delivery is high and university-wide.

The position is located in the kihci-okâwîmâw askiy Knowledge Centre, College of Agriculture and Bioresources.

**ACCOUNTABILITIES**:
Accountabilities for this position include:
**Project Management**
- Exercises decision making and judgement in determining how to achieve the goals of the centre;
- Develops and executes project and event plans;
- Utilizes project management tools to ensure the proper execution of project plans;
- Work closely with the Director and Academic Director on proposal development (fund development) for new initiatives related to professional development, engagement, teaching and research projects.

**Relationships with Indigenous communities and organizations**
- Build and maintain strong, respectful relationships with Indigenous communities and organizations.
- Supports special projects developed with and by Indigenous communities and contributes to the planning, promotion and execution of events that contribute to positive relationships with Indigenous communities and organization.

**Strategic Communications and Relationships**
- Work with the kihci-okâwîmâw askiy Knowledge Centre to enhance partnerships with Indigenous communities and organizations to enhance outreach initiatives and programs within and external to the university;
- Assist with and contribute to annual reports;
- Represent the kihci-okâwîmâw askiy Knowledge Centre Office on relevant internal and external committees, as appointed;
- Other responsibilities as assigned.

**Education**: A minimum of five years education/training/experience in a relevant and related field, preferably in direct association with Indigenous education, programs, and/or communities.

**Experience**: Familiarity and knowledge of Indigenous cultural protocols and ceremonial observances is essential. Proven experience in the coordination of Indigenous educational events. Familiarity with ceremonies, traditions and protocols would be considered an asset. Experience with developing workshops and professional development programs would be considered an asset.

Experience working with diverse groups of organizations and peoples, particularly students, Indigenous communities and partners. Proven understanding of university administrative structures and Indigenous governance systems and educational support programs. Knowledge and enthusiasm for adult teaching, outreach and engagement of higher education with communities. Knowledge of the University of Saskatchewan, the province and Indigenous residents therein are essential. **Must hold and maintain a valid Saskatchewan driver's license and an acceptable driving record.**
