**JOB SUMMARY**
- The Health Equity, Diversity and Inclusion unit functions as a centre of expertise and is accountable to advance health equity and inclusion commitments, policies, Indigenous reconciliation commitments and diversity plans across the department.
You are responsible for planning and managing the day-to-day delivery and operations of Health Equity, Diversity and Inclusion programs and services.
Programs, services, projects and activities include:
- Anti-racism and anti-oppression plan to address and prevent the racially inequitable outcomes within the workplace and public health services delivered to communities.
- Indigenous Reconciliation Action plan to build and foster collaborative relationships and partnerships with urban Indigenous leaders, and community organizations, service providers and stakeholders to demonstrate accountability and advance municipal commitments in relation to Indigenous reconciliation
- Oversight and administration of the foundational standard and Health Equity guideline within the Ontario Public Health Standards
- Working with all service areas to ensure health equity, diversity and inclusion is a foundation to all of programming and work with the community
- You are also responsible for managing the unit’s human (including contracted services) and financial resources, and stakeholder and partner relationships.**EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE**
- Completion of a 4-year university degree in social sciences, business administration or other related field- Master's Degree in social or health sciences, public administration or related field is desirable- 5 years of related experience in community services, equity, inclusion and/or anti-oppression fields supporting the development, planning, management, and delivery of programs, projects, and events related to advancing structural or systemic changes in large organizations, including a minimum of 2 years in the management of human and financial resources**KNOWLEDGE**
- Expert understanding of anti-oppression, equity, diversity and inclusion frameworks
- Knowledge of Ontario Public Health Standards and relation to health equity.
- Knowledge of social determinants of health impact on health outcomes.
- Expert understanding of community-based social development frameworks
- Current knowledge and understanding of the impacts of colonialist assimilation practices, such as Residential Schools and the Sixties Scoop, on Indigenous People
- Comprehensive knowledge of relevant legislation including the Ontario Human Rights Code, Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms and other relevant human rights legislation
- Demonstrated understanding of racism and intersectionality, namely how racism intersects with other identities including gender identity, sex, religion, sexual orientation, ability/disability, family status, etc
- Knowledge of and familiarity with the goals and strategies of social movements including Black Lives Matter, Black Women¹s Lives Matter, Idle No More, with the demonstrated ability to engage meaningfully with community groups, coalitions and networks
- Knowledge of Indigenous peoples as First Peoples, the impacts of colonization and anti-Indigenous racism
- Industry trends and developments
- Current knowledge of human rights, accessibility and other related legislation
- Principles, practices, procedures, techniques, laws and regulations pertaining to the Service area's functions, programs, services and operations
