**Summary**

The goal of the Chief Operating Officer (COO) is to ensure the efficiency, stability and functionality of the day-to-day operations and business of the organization. The COO is a senior executive tasked with overseeing the day-to-day administrative and operational functions of the organization. The Chief Operating Officer (COO) will oversee the organization’s operations under the direction of the CEO. Executive managers and mid-level managers report to the COO.

**GENERAL DUTIES**

The NWAC Chief Operating Officer will be responsible for the following:

- Oversight of human resources, financial operations including budget development & procurement, and implanting the organization’s strategic and business plan to ensure continuous process improvement.
- Oversee operations, project timelines, business developments, IT and employee productivity while building a highly inclusive culture to ensure team members thrive;
- Measure and analyze current revenue streams, offerings, and relationships to optimize business growth and revenue strategy;
- Develop actionable business strategies, objectives, and plans that ensure alignment with short
- and long-term objectives of the NWAC board of directors developed in tandem with the CEO;
- Work with the CEO to set and drive the organizational vision and mission, corporate strategy, and hiring needs;
- Build and maintain relationships with other professionals and organizations in the industry;
- Oversee the implementation of organizational strategies created by senior management and deliver results on a day-to-day basis;
- Spearhead new initiatives and lead specific organizational turnarounds;
- Mentor younger or newer organizational team management team members;
**INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY**

Work with the Chief technology officer (CTO) and/or the organization’s IT service provider to ensure goals are met;
- Responsible over all IT efficiencies for the organization;
- Assess and implement improved processes and new technologies and collaborating with management;
- Work with the NWAC service provider to ensure excellence in service to NWAC staff including onsite and telework

**FINANCE**

COO will work with the chief financial officer (CFO) to implement financial procedures and organizational policies and programs to drive the company’s operating capabilities to surpass the industry average.

**HUMAN RESOURCES**
- Work with the CHRO & CEO to ensure effective recruiting, onboarding, professional development, performance management, and retention.
- Lead employees to maximum performance, morale and dedication;
- Translate strategy into actionable goals for performance and growth helping to implement organization-wide goal setting, performance management, and annual operating planning;
- Oversee employee productivity, building a highly inclusive culture ensuring team members thrive and organizational outcomes are met;
- Strategically manage, organize, and coordinate employees from different departments and locations to ensure efficiency;
- Oversight of the organizational telework policy.

**COMPLIANCE**
- Adhere to organizational, federal, provincial and local business requirements, enforcing compliance and taking action when necessary;
- Design and implement operational and business strategies, plans and procedures;
- Set comprehensive goals for performance and growth;
- Develop and implement policies that promote culture and organizational mandate and vision;
- Oversee daily operations of the organization and the work NWAC management (Human Resources, IT, Legal, Policy, Corporate, Communications, Finance etc.);
- Evaluate organizational performance by analyzing and interpreting data and metrics;
- Brief the CEO and write reports to the CEO concerning all matters of importance;
- Participate in expansion activities (investments, program development).

**RELATIONSHIPS**
- Manage operational relationships with partners/vendors.

**REVENUE GENERATION**
- Assist in the development and execution measurable revenue generation programs that drive revenue across the NWAC Social and Cultural Innovation Centre revenue streams;
- Develop and implement promotions and sales strategies for all of the revenue streams;
- Perform other related duties as assigned from time to time.

**Educational and Experience Requirements**
- Bachelors and/or master’s degree in business
