**Organization Overview**
**Position Context**
Reporting to the Executive Director, the Communications Officer is responsible for the planning and delivery of a broad array of communication services in support of the Fund’s Governing Council, members, and staff. The incumbent will be responsible for writing unique, relevant, inspiring, and accurate content to engage members and supporters. To perform this job successfully, you must be able to perform each primary responsibility satisfactorily.
**Work Environment**
This position works from home.
**Work Location**
The work is in Quebec, and work must take place from a home office because you will be logging into company servers, and access from a public wi-fi connection is not permitted (like a coffee shop or the library).
**Primary Responsibilities**
- In collaboration with the Executive Director, develop and oversee the implementation of communication plans and supporting processes to promote the Fund’s missions, strategic priorities, and excellence to key stakeholders, including internal and external audiences and Veterans Affairs Canada (VAC).
- Responsible for the planning and maintenance of the Fund’s website and social media platforms to promote programs and accomplishments.
- Create and develop written and visual content for internal and external audiences for various platforms, including website, social media, e-newsletters, print and online ads, annual reports, brochures, posters, etc.
- Performs and proofreads all translations and materials prepared by self and others.
- Promote events, such as ceremonies and other activities.
- Consult with the VAC communication department or external suppliers for additional support with graphics, photographs, audio-visual, events etc.
- Management of digital assets.
- Other responsibilities as assigned.
**Knowledge, Skills and Abilities**
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English and French is essential.
- Experience creating communication materials, including writing and editing online and digital content.
- Meticulous. Strong organizational, priority-setting, problem-solving, listening, and verbal communication skills.
- Demonstrates professionalism and discretion, as well as creativity and initiative.
- The ability to consult well with internal and external clients.
- Experience coordinating/collaborating with graphic artists, audio-visual specialists, photographers, translators, and other communication resources.
**Education and experience**
- Bachelor’s degree in journalism, communications, public relations or related field, or equivalent combination of work and education-related experience.
- At least three years of experience in communications or a related field.
- Experience in the not-for-profit field is an asset.
