**Product Manager (Disability & Life Insurance)**
**Role Summary**:
The Product Development Product Manager role is key to directing, managing and launching our Group Benefit products to market via the product development process, developing strategies and business models that advance the Group Benefits mandate. Working with key stakeholders, the purpose of this position is to determine and execute on the product roadmap to successfully launch products for Group Benefits to market while improving tools for plan sponsors, plan members, plan advisors and business development. Even though the Product Manager may be assigned to specific products, he/she will need to have a very good understanding of our entire range of products & services.
**Main Accountabilities**:
- Generate and gather ideas from a variety of sources for integration into the product roadmap
- Define product roadmap and outline high-level product business needs
- Execute on product roadmap
- Desire to understand market and competitive landscape
- Gather plan sponsor and plan member insight
- Validate product plans and ensure a smooth implementation for internal business units and out into the market for any new releases or enhancements
- Intake of product customizations and determination of how to roll them into the product roadmap
- Partner with key internal stakeholders to support for current products and new product training
- Helping to develop and deliver the product vision to plan sponsors and key internal stakeholders
- Provide product training and support to our development and business units
- Build effective relationships within departments within GB (Disability, IT, Finance, Legal, Risk, Operations) and across Sun Life Financial
- Analysis of our win-loss information to determine changes required to the product roadmaps
**Innovation**
- Proactively identifies and assesses solution opportunities (new or modified) and develops product strategies, considering client needs, competitive intelligence, and market disruption, and have the ability to execute on the product vision
- Contributes to the development of the GB product strategy and initiative roadmap by recommending features and services required to maximize the client and product value proposition
- Leads product delivery using a lean MVP (Minimum viable product) while participating in development of strategies, business models, and business cases (where applicable) to execute delivery of the initiatives
- Proactively analyzes trends in results and client insights to recommend strategies for ongoing benefits realization following implementation of initiatives
- Actively participate in the GB Product Development Product Innovation Forum: a cross portfolio dedicated time to identify and develop product opportunity
**Product delivery**
- Accountable for the management and delivery of product initiatives by supporting: planning; business value based prioritization; resource & stakeholder management; execution; issue escalation and resolution; risk & financial management; communication and KPI management
**Relationship management**
- Nurtures effective relationships with internal stakeholders to evolve product strategies and business/product models (e.g. partners within other Business Units, ES, Legal, Risk and Operations)
- Fosters relationships with external health care stakeholders and potential strategic partners to evolve opportunity analysis and business model development. Where required, also supports formalizing partnerships with external stakeholders through contract development and related due diligence activities
**Project management**
- Ability to develop strong project plans to support product initiatives
**Competencies**:
- Strong client focus and understanding of the Group Insurance market
- Health, wellness and prevention knowledge
- Excellent communications skills
- Strong presentation skills with the ability to influence
- Experience with launching products to market
- Knowledge and exposure to change management policies, practices and procedures
- In depth knowledge of all aspects of Group Insurance with a minimum of 2-5 years of relevant experience
- University degree, ideally in Health related studies, Marketing or Business.
