About Us
The mission of the Department of Public Works is to deliver quality public building infrastructure for Nova Scotia. Our mandate is to ensure that the institutional infrastructure is constructed in a way that improves the lives of Nova Scotians while furthering the Provincial Government's goal of acting on climate change. The Building Infrastructure Design and Construction (BIDC) Division of Public Works is responsible for the design and construction of new and renovated building infrastructure ranging in value from $1,000,000 up to $500,000,000 and encompassing building types such as Schools, Courthouses, Healthcare Facilities, Museums and Art Galleries, Provincial Buildings, Highway operations buildings and more. About Our Opportunity
The Project Coordinator is responsible for the coordination, administration, interpretation, investigation, and provision of information of various government programs throughout the province. Responsibilities include assisting in the delivery and administration of new and existing programs, assisting in the investigation and resolution of project issues. The Building Infrastructure Program Admin Officer manages distribution and ensures prompt execution of project documents within the portfolio of projects.
Primary Accountabilities
In this role you assist Project staff in improving processes to support effective project delivery and implementation. Manages priorities and works effectively to reach expected delivery goals. The PAO ensures efficient workflow of project-critical and other urgent documentation. The PAO reviews and flags inconsistencies and errors for correction on submittals for compliance with applicable requirements in advance of review by the Management team.
Reviews contractor and consultant progress payments for contractual compliance; consulting with project management staff and management as required to review any identified deviations. The PAO processes and tracks invoices for timely payment and once approved, you will monitor payments of select invoices, works to resolve any concerns raised by contractors/consultants and provides timely reports to the project and management team.
Work must be completed promptly, accurately, and with constant attention to detail.
Qualifications and Experience
Effective interpersonal and communication skills, strong organizational skills, combined with the ability to prioritize work and adhere to deadlines and coordinate a variety of different functions simultaneously, are necessary prerequisites of this position. Sound judgement, with a high degree of personal initiative, tact and discretion are also required in this role.
Knowledge and experience working in a building design and construction work environment, including familiarity with tendering, contract administration, project scheduling, and project management terminology is considered an asset.
We will assess the above qualifications and competencies using one or more of the following tools: written examination, standardized tests, oral presentations, interview(s), and reference checks.
Equivalency
An equivalent combination of training, education and experience will be considered. Equivalencies include, but are not limited to:
Completion of a 2-year diploma and 3 years of related experience
