Community Life Coordinator

**Position Purpose and** **Summary**
The Community Life Coordinator (CLC) resides at the Laurentian Leadership Centre (LLC) and is responsible for fostering a positive, safe, enriching and Christ-like community for students while they participate in the LLC’s program in Ottawa.
**Key Areas of Accountability**
The role of the CLC is multi-faceted. Two distinct, yet overlapping, areas of responsibility (among others) exist: Community Facilitator and Residence Manager.
**1. Community Facilitator**
- Create opportunities for students to grow in their awareness of what it means to be a member, leader, steward, friend, partner, and servant in community.
- Manage student conduct in accordance with Trinity Western University’s (TWU) community standards, handbook guidelines, accountability and harassment policies.
- Provide personal support to all students in an appropriate and caring manner. Respond to student complaints and conflict in a timely and professional manner. Intervene in accordance with TWU’s safety and accountability procedures in consultation with the LLC’s Executive Director and TWU staff. Reach out to the health professionals and counsellors if/as needed.
- Be available for on-call emergencies for students in partnership with the LLC’s Executive Director.
- Establish and maintain partnerships with local program and service providers, ensuring students have access to recreation, wellness and ministry opportunities while living in Ottawa.
- Provide leadership by creating and implementing a four-month calendar program for LLC students, conscious of capturing the ebb and flow of the academic program, internship requirements and community opportunities. This includes planning, hosting and executing community events such as: orientation week, fellowship meals, city tours and excursions, mansion meetings, Bible studies, etc.
- Be willing to travel to TWU for training and/or host TWU representatives at the LLC for training as needed.
- Assist the LLC Executive Director and Program Coordinator by contributing photos and other features for communications purposes (e.g., social media posts, newsletters etc.).
**2. **Residence Manager and Administration**
- Supervise students and/or tenants during their stay at the LLC including housing needs, building orientation, chores, damage assessments, key return and disbursal.
- Work with LLC staff to ensure the facility is kept in good repair. This would include: being present if/as contractors need access to the building; being a liaison between students and/or tenants and LLC staff as maintenance and/or supply issues arise; and fostering an attitude of good stewardship among students and/or tenants so the facility remains tidy and in good working order.
- Assist students with technical support. This would include working with TWU’s IT support, other LLC staff and local service providers as needed.
- Duties and responsibilities that do not constitute a major change may be added, deleted or changed at any time at the discretion of the supervisor either orally or in writing._

- Strong individual and interpersonal skills with a desire to work with a wide range of temperaments, personalities and nationalities.
- Self-starter, able to work independently and as part of a team.
- Strong leadership skills.
- Highly organized and the ability to multi-task.
- Adept at working under schedule, time and budget pressures.
- Willingness to work outside of regular business hours as community events and student needs will arise in evenings and on weekends.
- Administrative and computer skills required.
- Valid driver’s license.

**Education**: Bachelor’s degree.
**Experience**: A minimum of 2-3 years of experience in ministry, university setting and/or student related field.
