**Position Summary**
Directly reporting to the Manager of Environmental Services, will be responsible for operating machinery such as forklifts and excavators, primarily in the yard. This role involves working outdoors in all weather conditions, including hot summers and cold winters. You will support day-to-day yard operations, maintain equipment, ensure site cleanliness, and assist in material handling and loading/unloading activities.
**Responsibilities**
- Operate heavy equipment, including forklifts and excavators, in a safe and efficient manner.
- Conduct daily inspections and maintenance checks on assigned equipment.
- Load and unload materials, ensuring proper handling and placement.
- Perform yard duties such as organizing materials, shovelling, and general site cleanup.
- Support other equipment operators and labourers as needed.
- Maintain cleanliness and functionality of all assigned tools and equipment.
- Assist in the safe handling and transfer of hazardous and non-hazardous materials.
- Follow all company safety policies and procedures.
- Participate in safety meetings and contribute to a safe work environment.
**Qualifications & Specifications**
- Minimum 1 year of experience operating heavy equipment, specifically forklifts and excavators.
- Experience working outdoors in various weather conditions.
- Valid forklift operator certification required; excavator certification is an asset.
- Valid Class G driver’s license required; AZ/DZ license is an asset.
- Strong commitment to workplace safety.
- Physically fit and able to perform labour-intensive tasks.
- Ability to follow verbal and written instructions.
- Team-oriented with strong communication and interpersonal skills.

- Physically able to work in both indoor and outdoor environments all day.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, multi-tasking environment.
- Good judgment and ability to react appropriately and responsibly to situations.
- Strong communication skills (listening, verbal, and written).
- Basic math and problem-solving skills.
- Valid driver’s license.

- Mechanically inclined with a hands-on approach.
- Comfortable working in a dirty environment.
- Team-oriented and able to work independently.
- Flexible, adaptable, and easy-going with a positive attitude.
**_ Physical Demands_**
- Physically able to lift, pull, and carry up to 50lbs regularly, and up to 100lbs when required.
- Tasks include rolling drums, moving hoses, and pushing a pump cart.
- Operating equipment such as forklifts.
- Ability to climb stairs and ladders.
- Standing for extended periods, with mínimal time spent sitting.
- Operating both manual and power hand tools.
- Maintaining mental focus to ensure adherence to safety protocols and procedures at all times.
