The Operations Excellence Advisor is responsible for the deployment and execution of operational excellence activities within the Air Canada operations. In collaboration with the Manager Operations Excellence, the incumbent will plan, design and implement process improvement solutions within the assigned Value Stream. The Operations Excellence Advisor is expected to follow suitable improvement methodology, engage with initiative teams to create a positive and collaborative environment and to foster lean thinking.
**Key Function & Accountabilities**:
- Identify opportunities for improvement and develop initiative charters.
- Provide recommendations to business unit and support the development of business cases.
Support and occasionally lead workout sessions and improvement workshops, coordinates deliverables.
- Ensure proper root cause identification.
- Perform data gathering and analysis.
- With team members, develop work plans, schedules and estimates.
- Identify risk, issues and facilitate problem-solving, decision making and risk mitigation through escalation as required.
- Prepare presentations, organize appropriate business update meetings to ensure all team members are engaged, aligned and to keep them informed on progress.
- Foster the spirit of communication, collaboration and continuous improvement within the organization leveraging new or existing best practices, tools and Operations Excellence ways of working.
- Serve as a change agent and engage employees in improvement initiatives.
- Actively update initiative database and report improvement progress in alignment to operations goals.
- Occasionally conducts benchmarking and other competitor assessment studies.
- When required, collaborate with Organizational Effectiveness to support and lead people through stages of change to increase adoption and drive organizational success & outcomes.
- Support delivery of learning experiences for initiative team as required
- Ensures that new processes are documented and that changes are communicated.
- Perform all other duties as assigned.
**Qualifications**
- Undergraduate Degree or equivalent tenure as Lean Six Sigma Green Belt
- 2 years' experience in process improvement and delivering benefits
- Experience with project management tools
- Understanding and/or experience of airline operations (an asset)
- Strong interpersonal relationships and ability to influence and persuade others to action
- Effective communication and negotiation skills
- Demonstrate leadership, initiative, creativity and flexibility
- Ability to work well under pressure and meeting deadlines
- Team player with ability to work independently
- Ability to cultivate strong collaborative working relationships
- Effective organizational skills and an aptitude for managing the pace of change
- Strong analytical skills and a passion for delivering results
