The Maintenance Enforcement Program helps to facilitate the payment of court ordered child and spousal support; the NS Restorative Justice Program provides opportunities for those harmed by crime, the person who caused the harm and the communities affected to communicate (directly or indirectly) about the causes, circumstances, and impact of that crime, and to address their related needs; Victim Services offers support to victims of crime as their case moves through the justice system.For more information on the Department of Justice Victim Services please visit the following link: https://novascotia.ca/just/Victim_Services/About Our OpportunityReporting to the Director of Victim Services, the Manager, Client Support and Community Relations is accountable for developing and implementing program initiatives in relation to victims of crime through the development, leadership, and management of project teams, analysis of current research and theoretical perspectives in victimology, new initiatives, protocols, and court decisions.The Manager is responsible for supporting special program initiatives for victims of crime within the Department of Justice through: the development of strategies, policies, and procedures (e.g. Indigenous supports, Human Trafficking, and Gender Based Violence); the development and maintenance of partnerships with various sectors within government and the community; the provision of training related to special program initiatives; and research, evaluation and data analysis; workshops and public presentations.They will ensure enhancements to service delivery for Gender Based Violence and Intimate Partner Violence, including collaborating with the Gender Based Violence Division, and completing amendments to the Victim Rights and Services Act.The Manager will be responsible for funding programs within the Department of Justice for the provision of services to victims of crime to ensure funded agencies operate within the Departmental guidelines as defined by funding agreements, including the administration of effective fiscal management; monitoring of submitted reports; record keeping, monitoring and evaluation systems.They will provide competent, confidential, and timely advice to leadership, and expertise to the Department of Justice and acts as the representative of the Department, and the Province as required, on issues related to special initiatives for victims of crime, for example for example Indigenous supports, Human Trafficking, and Gender Based Violence.They will ensure the sharing of information and expertise on issues pertaining to victims of crime through the establishment of an effective communication network with government departments, community organizations, and individuals in the field; participate on intergovernmental committees and respond to requests for information.The Manager will ensure the effective management of human and financial resources by setting and evaluating staff performance targets, promoting diversity and a healthy workplace, demonstrating leadership competencies, respecting corporate human resources practices, promoting teamwork and individual development, maintaining internal communications, monitoring expenditures while adhering to procurement guidelines.Qualifications and ExperienceA post-secondary degree in a related discipline (e.g. Education, Social Work) with demonstrated related management experience; an acceptable equivalent combination of education, training and experience may be considered. Work experience in the field of Gender Based Violence and Intimate Partner Violence is required.Must have demonstrated experience in development, leadership, and management of teams, operational planning, legislation development, and preparing reports and briefing materials. Experience and/or education in the field of Criminal Justice is required. The successful candidate will be a demonstrated leader, team player, well organized, able to work independently, capable of prioritizing and delegating high level work under tight timelines, and able to exercise sound judgement under pressure. Requires demonstrated experience successfully communicating at various levels within an organization (both verbal and written), with community, and the public.Graduate degrees such as M.A.Ed, M.S.W; computer experience working with software such as MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook would be considered assets, along with supervisory experience with programs and staff.LEADSThe Government of Nova Scotia has adopted the LEADS Leadership Framework.
