Service Designer Senior Location: Edmonton, Alberta (Primarily Remote) Duration: 6 Months Plus 6 Months of possible extension Project Overview: The Data, Information and Privacy Services Division leverages a one-government approach to information and privacy governance, decision-making, and service delivery. The Senior Service Designer supports the Data Centre of Excellence to deliver data products and analytics services that enhance data access, collaboration, and innovation across the client. Key focus areas include: Delivering data products with agility, business outcome focus, and innovation. Ensuring data is treated as a corporate asset. Defining scope, roadmap, product design, prototyping, and evaluation of data products. Supporting informed use of GoA data assets to improve policy analysis, program planning, and decision-making. Key Responsibilities: Conduct review, discovery, requirements gathering, process mapping, and service design for data analytics initiatives. Perform technical documentation, prototyping, evaluation, and gap analysis. Integrate human-centered design methods into data product development. Analyze internal and external data user experiences to identify gaps, opportunities, and solutions. Plan and execute: User and behavioral field research Co-design workshops Prototype design and testing Concept testing Journey maps and service blueprint development Process mapping and service prototyping User story creation and usability testing Service performance measurement, analysis, and reporting Strategy and roadmap documentation Depict end-to-end data/analytics product service journeys, mapping current and future states. Collaborate with program teams and executives to co-design new processes and policies. Plan integration of new data architecture solutions, including governance, innovation, and change management considerations. Required Qualifications: Education: Bachelor s degree or equivalent in a relevant field. Experience: 6+ years creating journey maps, service blueprints, or other visual service representations. 6+ years facilitating and leading co-design workshops. 5+ years applying human-centered design approaches (UX, customer experience, service design). 5+ years working with digital or data services. 5+ years as a Service Designer on projects of comparable size and complexity. Preferred / Nice to Have: 5+ years analyzing research data and presenting findings effectively. 5+ years creating service metrics and measures. 5+ years managing projects from detail-oriented tasks to strategic overview. 5+ years conducting behavioral/ethnographic field research. 2+ years experience working in or for the public sector.
