Service Designer Back to All Jobs [social_share] Our client requires a Service Designer to design and deliver human centered data products within a Data Centre of Excellence to enhance data access, analytics capabilities, and data informed decision making within a public sector environment. Responsibilities include leading discovery, service design, prototyping, and experience analysis to ensure data products align with business outcomes, data governance standards, and enterprise data strategies. The role drives end to end design of data services, enabling improved user experience, operational efficiency, and adoption of innovative data solutions. Resource will work remotely but must be available to be on-site when requested for meetings. Frequency of meeting could be up to 3-4 times per month. Standard Hours of work are 08:15 – 16:30 Alberta time. Work must be done from within Canada, due to network and data security issues. Resource is responsible to pay for travel to on-site meetings. Edmonton, Alberta (Remote within Canada) Responsibilities Duties Include: Conducting discovery, requirements gathering, process mapping, and service design to support data product development, ensuring alignment with data governance, analytics, and enterprise data architecture. Integrating human centered design methods into data product lifecycle and delivery, such as user research, co design workshops, journey mapping, service blueprinting, and usability testing. Analyzing current and future state data user experiences across pipelines, interfaces, catalogues, and architecture to identify gaps, opportunities, and solution pathways. Developing prototypes, concept tests, service performance metrics, user stories, roadmaps, and technical documentation to guide iterative data product design and implementation. Collaborating with stakeholders, analysts, and cross functional teams to co design new processes, change management plans, and policies supporting modernized data service delivery. Creating end to end service journey maps, integration plans for new data architecture solutions, and strategies to measure outcomes, optimize user access, and improve analytics service efficiency. Mandatory Requirements Must meet or exceed one of the following: University graduation in computer science or a related discipline and 4-yr relevant experience; OR 2-yr diploma in computer science or a related discipline and 6-yr relevant experience; OR 1-yr certificate in computer science or a related discipline and 7-yr relevant experience; OR a currently active professional certification or accreditation and 8-yr relevant experience 6 years’ experience creating journey maps and service blueprints or other visual representations of user needs. 6 years’ experience facilitating and leading co-design workshops. 5 years’ experience using human-centered design approach (UX, customer experience, service design, interaction design, etc.). 5 years’ experience working with digital or data product (data pipelines, data user interfaces, data catalogues, data architecture etc.) 5 years’ working as a Service Designer on a project comparable in size and complexity to the service innovation, program review, and/or digital transformation projects in large enterprise environments. Desirable Requirements 5 years’ experience analyzing research data and presenting findings in diverse ways 5 years’ experience creating service metrics and measures. 5 years’ experience moving through projects shifting focus from small details to understanding the whole system and the relationship between them. 5 years’ experience planning, conducting and analyzing behavioral/ethnographic field research to understand user, employee, and public needs and goals. 2 years’ experience working in or for the public sector.
