The Heavy Equipment Operator is responsible for the safe and effective operation of various pieces of equipment.ResponsibilitiesOperates heavy equipment safely and efficiently according to relevant legislation, policies, procedures and work plansPerforms daily safety and maintenance checksCleans heavy equipment as scheduled and/or requiredEnsures heavy equipment is safely and securely storedAdvises the Superintendent or maintenance department of any requirements for maintenance or repairParticipates in routine fueling and maintenancePractices workplace safetyMay perform other related duties as requiredHeavy Equipment operation may include but is not limited to Dozers, Graders, Backhoe Loaders, Excavators, Loaders, Skid Steer, PackersQualifications2+ years’ experience in Heavy Equipment operationMust be able to interpret grade stakes, clear, grub, strip, excavate, backfill, ditch, and stockpileAble to cut and spread materialAble to excavate, stockpile, backfill and load with loaderAble to construct berms, excavate side hills, and finish side slopesAble to grade to final grade, finish slopes and mix soil stabilization materials with graderAble to perform surface and drainage maintenanceStrong analytical and problem-solving skillsExperience in a construction environment or in a similar role Familiar with construction terms and practicesEffective verbal and listening communication skillsAbility to understand and effectively execute verbal and written directionsAdheres to company Health, Safety, & Environmental reporting and standard assessmentsMust possess a valid driver’s license
