They aim to eliminate prejudice and discrimination and shape a world where mental illness is central to our healthcare system – a world where Mental Health is Health.To view our Land Acknowledgment, please click here.The Institute for Mental Health Policy Research (IMHPR) at the Centre for Addiction and Mental Health (CAMH) is currently seeking a full-time, contract (12 months) Scientific Associate. The Scientific Associate will report to the Principal Investigator, and work in collaboration with a multi-disciplinary team including scientists, researchers, research staff and clinicians. They will develop and manage quantitative and qualitative research projects focused on improving access to brief, evidence-based psychotherapies for depression, anxiety and trauma, with a special emphasis on women’s mental health. This position will require the individual to apply advanced quantitative and qualitative research skills in support of grant applications and real-world implementation studies led by Dr. Singla in areas including, but not limited to: quantitative and qualitative research design; development and management of research projects; data collection; quantitative and qualitative data management and analysis. The successful candidate will be expected to assist with study start-up (e.g., developing and submitting Research Ethics Board applications, writing study protocols and standard operating procedures), as well as participate in the preparation of research reports, grants, conference presentations, papers for publication, and other knowledge translation activities. The Scientific Associate will also contribute to mentorship of staff and research trainees as appropriate. Minimum Requirements The successful candidate will have a PhD degree in Sociology, Psychology, Health Systems or a related field with 1 or more years of relevant research experience. Preference will be given to individuals with post-doctoral or post-graduate experience.Proven track record of coordinating large clinical trials, preferably in mental health researchDemonstrated professional experience and training in quantitative and qualitative research methodologiesProfessional experience preparing and submitting grant applications, as well as preparing and managing project budgets preferredExpertise in quantitative and qualitative data analysis and interpretation Demonstrated proficiency with both quantitative (i.e., SAS) and qualitative (i.e., NVivo) statistical software is requiredExtensive experience with scientific writing, with a proven track record and aptitude in scientific publishingSuperior interpersonal skills along with analytical and problem solving skills are required.Superior organizational and time management skills with a flexibility to adjust to prioritiesAbility to work independently and in a collaborative team environmentAbility to work accurately and effectively in a fast-paced environmentSelf-directed with an ability to make decisions and to exercise good judgementDemonstrated satisfactory work performance and attendance historyStrong organizational skillsThe successful candidate will support a healthy workplace that embraces diversity, encourages teamwork and complies with all applicable and regulatory requirements.
