Layfield is looking to add Plant Apprentice Technicians to our Fabrication team. The Plant Apprentice Technicians are key production personnel and are responsible for the proper set-up and operation of equipment. The ideal candidate will have experience with basic hand tools, previous forklift experience and a wiliness to learn.This position is based out of the Edmonton facility and will report directly to the Shift Lead Hand and indirectly to the Production Supervisor. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES Safety: Understand, support, and adhere to the companys health and safety policies, programs, and procedures. Attend and participate in safety meetings. Complete risk assessment forms. Report any equipment or building damage to supervisors and/or safety team. Production: Maximizes quality, production levels and efficiencies pertaining to all geosynthetic fabrication activities. Correctly sets ups, operates, maintains, and lubricates all equipment. Contributes to the cleanliness and organization of the fabrication plant and their work area. Communicates with the Shift Lead Hand regarding deficiencies in both materials and equipment. Utilize Shine Dashboards and Flag System in accordance with production. Makes a positive contribution towards continuous improvement of teamwork and quality of workplace objectives. Quality Control & Assurance: Ensure quality in production by following organizational standards and ISO-. EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE  Completion of grade 12. WHMIS Certificate. Previous experience in a plant or fabrication environment. Experience with basic hand tools and plastic fusion welders in particular. Previous forklift experience is an asset. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & EXPERIENCE  Skilled at reading and interpreting blueprints. Knowledge of Quality Program (ISO) and capable of accessing program information could be an asset. Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. on a regular basis. Willing and able to work night shifts. WORK CONDITIONS  This is a full-time, hourly, and on-site position.
