**JOB SUMMARY**:
The Apprentice Heavy Equipment Technician reports to the Heavy Equipment Technician Superintendent and will be expected to safely service & repair heavy equipment. They will also perform general shop labour and housekeeping duties as needed.

**DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES**:

- Working 5 - 6 days a week, 8 - 10 hours a day, depending on shop requirements.
- Service and repair heavy equipment (excavators, backhoes, loaders, skid steers, trenchers), vehicles, trailers, and other associated equipment (generators, man lifts, light plants, drills).
- Assist Journeymen HET with maintenance of the fleet.
- Perform general shop labour and housekeeping duties, as required.
- Drive equipment and trucks in and out of the shop.
- Clean the equipment and trucks.

**REQUIREMENTS**:

- **Certified Heavy Equipment Technician Apprentice** with **active AIT records.**:

- Class **5** Driver’s License.
- Ability to lift **75lbs**.
- **Prior knowledge of Heavy Equipment and how to maintain them.**:

- Ability to troubleshoot and problem solve.
- **Willingness to learn**.
- **Effective verbal and written communication skills**.
