Job Details Description Purpose The Director, Data & Insights reports to Vice President, Information Technology & Digital Transformation and will lead the strategic development and management of the organization’s data and information systems. This role includes overseeing the evolution of the company’s architecture and systems to meet the dynamic needs of our guests, partners, and employees. You will lead a cross-functional team and enhance business capabilities to leverage data for strategic decisions, guest experience, and operational efficiency.  You will establish standard reusable data models as a core asset, enabling business and product teams to access up-to-date and accurate guest information, leading to more proactive and efficient guest interactions. You will ensure data is interpreted and reported consistently across different systems, establish policies and processes for data governance, and ensure data privacy, security, and compliance. The role is accountable for AI readiness, system integration initiatives, and using Microsoft technologies like Azure Synapse and Microsoft Fabric. Key Areas of Accountability  • Define and implement a unified data platform strategy and our vision for self-serve analytics, in collaboration with IT, analytics, and business leaders • Establish data modeling, reusable data and analytics solutions, actively implementing and contributing to industry best practices • Quantify progress towards self-serve analytics, and establish routine reporting to senior leadership across product and business teams • Establish data governance best practices across the organization, with clear business ownership, data quality assessment, reporting and responsibilities  • Foster a strong collaboration between data modeling, business intelligence, data engineering, business reporting, operations analytics, and product teams • Serve as a strategic voice and partner for senior leaders and executives, including educating the business on best practices and path to implement repeatable analytics and reporting • Build and lead a high-performing team of data professionals, promoting a culture of collaboration and continuous improvement. • Adopt and integrate modern data technologies and tools to boost team efficiency and effectiveness, encouraging best practices in data engineering, analytics, and data science. • Incorporate AI and machine learning into data platforms, ensuring the team has the skills and tools for predictive analytics and enhanced decision-making. • Utilize Microsoft technologies, including Azure Synapse and Microsoft Fabric, to enhance data platform capabilities and support advanced analytics and reporting. • Oversee the design and maintenance of scalable, secure data architectures, ensuring data quality, integrity, and regulatory compliance. • Ensure the efficient operation of data platforms with minimal downtime, implementing best practices for data management, including data integration, ETL processes, and data warehousing. Qualifications Education/Certifications/Knowledge • Bachelor’s degree in IT, Computer Science, Data Science, or a related field. • Demonstrated expertise in data architecture, governance, and platform management. • Strong proficiency in data technologies such as SQL, NoSQL, big data platforms, cloud services (e.g., AWS, Azure), and data visualization tools. • In-depth knowledge of Microsoft technologies, including Azure Synapse and Microsoft Fabric. • Advanced knowledge of data models, infrastructure and data architecture. Experience  • At least 10 years of experience in data management, including a minimum of 5 years in a leadership role. • Experience with AI and machine learning technologies and methodologies. • Experience building and scaling a data function from the ground up in a high-growth environment • Experience managing data, analytics, and engineering teams with 10+ direct and indirect reports • Hands-on experience in building and maintaining data pipelines and data solutions • Extensive experience building strategic models/datasets on cloud-based data lakehouses and platforms such as Redshift and Databricks to feed reporting and analytics • Experience with data sync tools like Segment and other tools which connect to go-to-market (GTM) systems and Salesforce and data warehouse • Experience working cross functionally with Sales/Marketing and leading different GTM initiatives, including understanding data flows between different systems, including Salesforce, Gong, and marketing automation platforms like Marketo. • Experience with putting data and analytics solutions in production and maintaining them • Experience reporting and presenting to senior business stakeholders Skills • Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills. • Ability to translate business needs into technical requirements and Agile solutions. • Strong project management skills with experience in Agile methodologies. • Comfort with ambiguity, evolving priorities, and an ability to lead a team and operate autonomously • Strong storytelling skills with the ability to coach and teach best practices, and to explain technical analyses to non-technical audiences Work Environment • Must be legally entitled to work in Canada  • Corporate Office – Vancouver based; hybrid role with a minimum 3 days in the office.  Compensation The base salary offered for this role is $160,000 to $180,000 per annum and can vary based on job-related expertise, qualifications, experience and internal equity.
